Punisher the video game

I picked up a copy of this game at Besy Buy along with a new hard drive for my compy the other day. It is a fairly decent game, nothing spectacular...except for this one part...there is one really cool level that I feel the need to share.

One level starts off with the funeral of a mob boss's son. The punisher breaks into the funeral home prior to the service, dumps the body of the mook (whom he killed originally) into a trash can and gets into the closed casket. Screen goes black for a bit and you hear people talking, yadda yadda yadda...

Then the game play actually starts...it shows an outside view of the casket and a BUNCH of mob goons in black suits (no women or children, mind you) with their heads hanging and hands held in their laps and such.

Then you sit up and scare the bejeezus out of all of them, while simultaneously smiting them with the heavy belt-fed machine gun you smuggled in their with yourself.

Awesome.

Game developers, I am asking you...we need more games with scenes like this one. Please.

Ahhh, yes. Mr. Castle. I remember an issue of the comics where he did a funeral hit. It was toward the beginning of the series, like within the first 20 issues of Punisher War Jounal. I loved that title for a while.

You can attribute that great scene to the guy who actually wrote the story for the game, Garth Ennis. Garth isn't actually a game developer but rather a comic writer. He's been writing the Punisher comic for some time now and in my opinion he's the by far the best Punisher writer period. His stories are amazing and brutal.

But you'd know that if you've ever read his original "What if..." called "What if Punisher Killed the Marvel Universe." If you've never read this comic track down a copy (or even the reprints) from your local comic store, milehighcomics.com, e-bay, or the neighborhood comic geek you beat up regularly and read it right away. Great stuff.

I am biased though. Mr. Ennis is by and large my favorite comic writer. Besides punisher he's done some great series like Preacher, Hitman, Hellblazer and Just A Pilgrim. All great books, all great stories.

So for once the game developers did it write. They hired a comic writer to write the story for the game about a comic book character. You'd think that would of been more obvious by now.

I'm definetlly gona have to pick this one up for at least a rental. Most comic vedio games suck so I'm a little nervous when they come out. Spider-Man 2 for the concoles was great and we have Garth Ennis writing one so maybee there's some hope.

Dooo made the same mistake. Its because, like X'an implied, I use the word all the time. But hey, I can't help it. I'm Italian, they teach words like Mook and Howyadoin' starting at birth!

Aww I was just kidding you, mayng. And besides, my computer is rigged with a cobalt and iodine nuclear destruct sequence if another game is installed on it this year.

It's not about my happiness, but the survival of all south Florida.
