Oh hell yeah...
I swear we should just name Zannon our SOE Forums Liason. He brings all the good stuff here so I don't have to browse that filthy forum.
I see this as good and bad. Its yet another step forward in this massive push to make the game simplier and easier for current players which is good for us. Ease of play cuts down the time it takes to travel all over the place looking for items when we could be doing something fun.
On the other hand this sort of hurts our new Trade Outpost (Delivery Depot) vendor mall. The hopes would be for new players to come to our vendor mall looking to buy items and discover a pretty cool place. This may in turn interest them in the town or start convesations with players they never met before and establish new friendships. The Vendor search keeps this people from basically leaving the starport. That might hurt.

FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been askin for this for a long time. This has a major side affect as well. It will create compition for business. A person can now see who is pricing what for how much and will be able to get the chepest price listed with out having to do guess work. Competitors will see the cheeper stuff going first and some will lower their own prices to try to move their invatory as well.
3 cheers for the law of supply and demand

It's a good thing for the market, but I wish they hadn't done away with the travel end of it. They should charge a fee for the FedEx! It'd be a way to sink more creds out of the game.

I agree Dooo, and you should mention that to a dev... pay a little more to get it "Sent" to you..
Instead of it being free:
I think this will fix the swollen economy, and I will be able to again afford to splurge

I think this will help the ecomony. As it is, I don't shop much because it takes too much time to vendor hop all around the galaxy. I want my play sessions to typically be 95% fun, 5% work.

Well, they have put this idea on hold for the time being, and to be honest I am very happy they have. They need to put more time into the implementation of it. I am very much in favor of putting in a planetary vendor listing, but not one that delivers the item to you immediately no matter where you are. You should just get the WP to where the item is located so you can go and purchase it in person and it will still encourage browsing other vendors and shops nearby and will keep player cities somewhat active.
I realize most non crafters loved this idea, but being a crafter and a merchant I feel it would have been poor execution. I put a lot of hard work into the presentation of my shop, and I keep the vendors well stocked. I want people to come in and see my shop and feel the atmosphere I try to create.
Glad the Devs are listening to us.

I do appreciate your concerns. I ran a successful tailoring business for about 3 months. My customer base was growing and all that good stuff. Crafters are some of the best decorators in the game. Some of the malls I have seen are amazing. I truly do appreciate the efforts of the artisans to create "realistic" and interesting shops.trasgo wrote:Well, they have put this idea on hold for the time being, and to be honest I am very happy they have. When it comes down to it, people come back for quality, presence (stocked vendors), and price.
As a consumer, I have had malls vanish on me.. or fail to get restocked. You cannot imagine my frustation at going back to a vendor day after day only to see it empty. The ability to shop online is awesome for the consumer.

I am fascinated with MMOG economies. I can't wait to see how this works out. I have a feeling we will see a lot more money flowing.

I am certainly in favor of making it easier to shop. I do alot of shopping myself and despise having to go to several vendors to find one particular item. The Planetary vendor listing will be amazing. I am just against having the items delivered. I like going to other cities to see what they have done. I just happened to stumble upon Nocturnus while mining a few months back and was very impressed with what i saw, and I enjoy that random encounter aspect and finding new things I might not otherwise find.Ekade wrote:I do appreciate your concerns. I too am fascinated with MMOG economies Ekade. It is just fascinating to see how the market can change. When/if this change goes live it will certainly make a big impact on the economy.
