Well I myself am driving an 1988 Le'mans and it gets geat fuel econ and drives fine.

Opel Frontera.
Don't know how well known Opel is in the US ^^
13 years old but still does it's job.
I would take a Toyota Landcruiser though, if i could afford one or get one of the old models cheap

And i would like some pics of that LOTR-case too

My mom had an opel. You had to turn the ignition and then push a button to start it. It was an early 70's model I think.
