The Science of Star Wars on the Discovery Channel

I just caught the end of this last night, and it is being rerun all sunday night.

It is broken down into 3 - 1 hour long episodesstarting at 7pm cst through 10pm, and then restarted all over again...I only saw bits and parts of it but it covers so much stuff

one of the neatest was comparing the jedi to shaolin monks, watching those guys do handstands, using one finger on each hand instead the palm

Gah. Glad I didn't watch it then. I think it's plainly obvious that they're supposed to be Samurai (not just the sabers, but from the Jedi robes and shirts right down to Vader's mask).

Oh well.

Just wanted to throw some love at my Shaolin Monks. Didn't want them to not feel the love there.

Because they DO do the most incredible physical feats, when they're not totally faked (the broken staff across the neck thing always irks me, because the staffs are *always* pre-cut. Wusses). ;)

yeah I saw a little bit of that yesterday

they were talking about the master/apprentice roles, and then showed a master shaolin monk overseeing this kid through all his moves...that kid was awesome
