You haven't been relevant in about 15 years, start playing re-runs of Nightline or something...

While I think the author's comments towards Cameron Diaz's personal love life are too harsh, and irrelevant to his point, I agree with the disingenuousness and artificiality of the show and some of it's "Trippers".

I recommend that everyone visit other countries and experience other cultures as early in their adult lives as possible, even if it's just nearby as Canada. But, when accidentally catching this show last month, I was turned off by how ignorant it is. The hook might be baited for younger people with popular star of the month, but I think MTV cares less about what it does with "the catches" afterward, only that they get paid for each one.

And yes, I stopped watching MTV with any kind of regularity in 1991. Even then, it was overdue.

wow, that guy is like me, only he cusses for no reason. I usually have to be wounded (thumb) or trapped in my house by a lagstorm. I pretty much feel the same way he does about ALL of the people on MTV.

MTV's target audience is something like 11-15 year olds. That's something to keep in mind. Which is all the more amusing that my little brother (at 18) still watches it.

I love this guy. He has an uncanny way of seeing through the BS that is perpetrated by the media and people that have no right to be speaking. Young people don't need the mindless crap the MTV spews out everyday. It scares me somedays when I think about the future. Rhetoric and a "pie in the sky mentality" doesn't get the job done at the end of the day does it? If these celebrities want to help they should do something not give us their self-righteous, sanctimonious propaganda.

Is he a bit jaded? Most definately.

Is he right?

Absolutely.

To me Maddox has always been as big "look at me while I mock others" kinda guy. He in some ways reminds me of CU bitchfest contestants on the SWG Forum or maybe specifically like someone like Gardalis in his most recent "look at me" thread on Gorath's forum. His self righteous indignation
is about at believable as that expressed by Cameron Diaz about the enviroment, Rush Limbaugh about us godless liberals, or Bill O'Reilly about pretty much anything. I guess the timer is set different for internet notoriety then it is for the normal "15 minutes of fame" otherwise Maddox would already be proverbially dead and buried.

What the sweet hell are you talking about?

"Give me some knuckle!"

IT DOESN'T GET ANY MORE RELEVANT THAN THAT.

Also: Maddox is a rock god who rocks the body that rocks the partay. I for one salute his personal insults against Diaz and her cadre of fake celebrity ho's. No, seriously, I love him.

Well, he IS a "look at me while I mock others" kind of fellow, occasionally he makes some good points, too.

Look at the article "Oops, you're a racist"...he makes some very intelligent leaps in that one.

And I do find it quite hysterical. Maybe I am biased because I like to mock others while people watch :)

"Us Godless liberals" speak for yourself Mr. California. LOL J/K

but seriously, there is a lot of touting about crap everywhere you go.
I want to address this comment though.
First- Liberals. While most people here may be "liberals," I think you should know Im almost as "right wing extreemist" as they come. The funny thing is I dont fit alot of the stereotypes(sp?). I don't hunt (but I own several... well, non hunting firearms) I am an artist, I am not wealthy, I am a small techy geeky, yet rugged outdoors meld.

Star Wars prequels there is a message that can be discerned, its not told well, but it's there. It is this: When you give a government or a person too much power, you will suffer. We have been handing over our liberties a bit at a time. I made a statement once that in my world the skies are dark and the streets were paved with blood. A lot of blood was shed to make and keep this a free nation, but it has become identicle to the system we took independence from. The revolution was fought over taxation without representation. I could write a book about that...

Beyond politics, we are giving in to companies and media outlets by continuing to let our children use them, and by tolerating them. All I ever see on MTV is the brainwashing of youth. They show Rappers taking off their shirts and showing off their cars, with half naked women dancing around them. Not only helping to feed materialism, but turning females into material as well. Women are not objects.

Godlessness: I can't really aproach this one in depth (*nod for Seret and the other mods :)* )

dang... I can't really think of any way to put it that wont upset the rules.
outside the rules though... let me say this, when I talk about my, or any other relationship with God, I am not saying anything about religion.
The following is a simple story about a man:
There was once this guy, who was the greatest person ever born, and he had a message. His message was, that it's not about a religion. Life is about Love. Religious people killed the greatest man who ever lived. The greatest man who ever lived was not religious, He just loved God, and everyone on earth. If you believe in him and his message, like your life depends on it, then you will live forever. Because the greatest man who ever lived found a way to cheat death, was killed, rose again, and lives now forever.

so what if you don't believe in this man..what if you believe in buddha, or satan, or zeus...then your story isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Which is exactly the #1 (but not only) reason we have the rule in the first place. We respect ALL religions here so we try to make this a place free of that barrier and based on other subjects.

Is it too much to ask that you recognize this as a privately run site and message board and that you follow our rules? I hope not.

While I live in Kentucky and have never been to California I will take yer word for that but I never intended to label you Whar. By us I mean myself and anyone else that because of their opinions might be labeled as such.

I was joking Zyre. I try not to label people either. One thing though, I will be the first to say I am not perfect. I don't know how many people who can vouch for me on this, but I am usually my own harshest critic.

Seret- As for that subject, I will cease the activity. The thing is that it's not just a part of my life, it's who I am, and what I do. It's basically like a part of my body. Consider the previous statement dead in the water.

Skor- while I may have told that little allegory(sp?) I didn't relate it to one thing or the other. And I just said to Seret that I wouldn't talk about that stuff anymore so maybe I will send you a PM. I am not trying to tie that statement or story to any particular belief, just spelling out where I'm coming from.

The whole MTV thing- Regardless of what we may believe spiritually, there are certain morals that need to be upheld. I don't think responsible parents should let children and teens watch MTV, because its like allowing them to watch soft core porn, and fills their minds with empty messages about materialism and self gratification through material things. The kind of two faced personalities you see all over MTV, as well as other media outlets are full of this kind of stuff.

Zyre- what you said about Bill O'reilly and Rush, and all those other talking heads holds true when applied to a lot of things. Many of them spew out judgement, and their own versions of right and wrong. When it comes down to it, you have to hold true to what you KNOW to be right and wrong. As far as I know there is an easy way to tell what this is. simply "will this hurt me, or someone else, in any way" when it comes to politics and people with a soapbox like Diaz, Limbaugh, etc. they try to influence the way you think by stirring you up, and telling you their version of what is right or wrong.
