Publish 17 comes out tomorrow...

Illbleed wrote:As much as I enjoyed playing an entertainer(on one of my alts), I don't believe that the "Entertainer" professions are viable any longer. There is no system I can see devised that would allow for the requisite immersion that the community is requesting.

Granted, I've been out of the game for a bit but I have been reading the forums regularly. I think SOE needs to admit defeat on this profession and give up the profession. Since entertainers can only "entertain" unless they have a combat profession, those who want to devout their energies to strictly "entertaining" will forever but stuck in the cantina's. It's not fair..

Let me also say a couple of things:

1. Maintenance on houses, structures and harvesters should go away. I personally did not enjoy having to run and check on these resources all the time.
2. 100 % armor/weapon repairs. No more critical failures and equipment being destroyed. Make most of the weapons in the game craftable by players. Quest items/weapons decay and can be repaired but are subject to critical failures/destruction.
They could get rid of BF, and the need to entertainers goes away. They could make it so thay you could never lose a weapon and the need for crafters diminishes.. and eventually the need for them goes away too if you provide the best weapons via the loot system.

While this makes the game more fun for the combat player, since they dont need to deal with these annoyances known as entertainers and crafters anymore, it KILLS the game for entertainers and crafters.

Entertaining and Crafting are two of the things that make SWG special if you ask me. I'd like to see them keep those around. What really needs to happen is that they should make the lives of Crafters easier. It is waaaay to painful to be a top-notch crafter in this game. It boggles the mind. I am not suprised at all that the top-crafters end up burning out.

It's a tough thing to balance. I am a casual player and my time is limited. If I was combat focused.. I would not want to have to spend hours shopping for my arsenal, or trying to track down some entertainer to heal battle fatigue. I'd want to be killing.

On the flipside.. give us entertainers and crafters a reason to feel valuable. Entertainers need more than BF healing and 10% inspiration buffs. Give us some some other useful buffs to bestow. Make some of these buffs shorter in duration so that a group may have an incentive to bring an entertainer with it.

I don't want SWG to become Galaxy of Warcraft. They are focusing on the combat.. which is good for the game. However, some professions are just not getting the love. By the time they do.. will it be too late?

* /formup will no longer remove Dizzy and/or Stun from team members involved in PvP.

So much for my /boostmorale fix hope(Which is still a usless command). Instead, they take away the biggest thing SL had going for it in PVP. I give em a month before they just make SL not work at anything in PVP. Bah.

Not to weave doom and gloom; But one of my biggest reasons for not wanting the CU when it came out, Ekade, was that the core system they were working with wasn't considering the 'whole' of the game. Just combat. And it shows now to all of us I think. They push some things too fast and some things not fast enough; I think the problem is with their release date pushes. Wither it's because their bosses spring you have to have 'this' live by 'this' date all too often on the SOE end... or, if it's just poor planning on the Devs parts.

Essentially though... Entertainers 'are' in the game and crafters 'are' too. Their not taking them out or they'd have already done it. I think we're honestly looking at a new phase of 'beta' testing again. Only now we've got veteran players live with experienced toons feeling the 'burn out' as you put it. At this point... Most professions might not see the luster we want in them for a "whole 'nother year.." as a whine prone farmboy once put it. Welcome to the world of profession nerfs... again!

We're a strong community here though... RP will keep us together till they fix us! Fix us goood! "tunes into the Devo 'Whip It' song" :-D

From the opinion of us folks that are a part of alot of ooc stuff to:

Myself and everyone i know outside of this community think entertainers are more important than they ever were before. I never needed mind buffs unless i was pvping pre cu. Now i refuse to hunt wtihout them. And jedi definetley refuse to hunt without them. that 10% xp buff is huge in my opinion its an extra 1k xp every 2 kills on average which can eventually ad to alot. And for a jedi its another 200 or 300 xp which is alot for them. Dancers are a very important thing to anyone grinding. Yall may not see it but i sure do. I appreciate everyone in the dancer profession and all the extra xp they help me get.

I don't think that it's not appreciated, DD. It's that 'that' is all it seems to be good for now. It's lost it's multi-role purpose versus it's high skill point cost at this point. Entertainers want to have more than one purpose as do we all. No wound healing/ BF is a bit of a joke now/ and that 10% can be earned just about as quickly from a novice as it can a master; That is to say... not a huge difference. You have to look at the 'whole' picture. Entertainers deserve a helluva lot more loving than what the CU gave them. That goes for all non-combatants really. Again, just this twi'lek's two credits...

Yeah.. basically what Batty said.

Don't make the profession cost so much if it is going to be this useless. Pre-CU it took more skill points to master Dancer than it did most combat professions. Post CU, it costs the same number of skill points... but now there is less benefit.

Basically I want a whole lot more benefit or a whole lot less skill point cost.

And... Let's welcome Po-i to the forum everyone! Dasumi and Vreese snagged her and told her about the forum in Eisley! :)

If my swoops keep getting blown up... your little taxi service may just be a booming idea, Po-i. Am I responsible for transport loss if you taxi gets blown up on the way to my mission? <grins> :D

((maybe we need an 'introductions' thread for all new players to the forum... to introduce ourselves ic and out?))

Guess I'll have to wait to check out the new vehicles. I'm not good at waiting for stuff :D

Thanks for the use of your room Jedi2b. It's very comfortable. I'm appreciating the decor as I wait for servers to regain power.
