Stupidity, pure and simple

Well, folks. I just had a brush with greatness(or a mindless idiot--you decide) in regards to tech support with my ISP. I'm having an issue with my Outlook and I can't retrieve messages from my HTTP Hotmail account nor my POP3 email account. After checking my incoming and outgoing mail servers and checking my login and password, I reluctantly decided to contact my ISP's 24/7 tech support. Where and the hell do they hire these retards from? Granted, I'm a bit up there in my schooling but this crap is basic troubleshooting after I've eliminated everything on my end(even tested my account connection to their system)Here's what the monkeys said:

Thank you for the information provided. You need to know that we can only offer support for Microsoft Outlook Express. We are not authorized to provide support information for Microsoft Outlook or any other e-mail client. However, I can provide you with a link with information how to verify your e-mail settings using Microsoft Outlook.
Outlook 2000:
<See link to "troubleshooting for dummies"
Outlook 2002:
More of the same

You're kidding me right? Outlook is the same thing as outlook express but full featured.

Did you open the link provided?

Yes.

I've followed those steps already.

Dave, unfortunately we do not provide assistance to this application.

ME>
Okay.

In this case I recommend you contact directly to the person who support this application.

Please contact http://support.microsoft.com for further assistance. They should be able to help.

Sure they will. Thanks for reading from the script. Have a good one.

Now someone please tell me how much different retrieving mail from a POP3 email account is from Microsoft Outlook Express or from Microsoft Outlook? It's not different at all. It's the SAME FREAKIN THING. As Yoda would say:

"No different, only different in your mind"

You could live in my world.

The one where you turned on your computer tonight and for whatever reason Outlook decided it was going to reset itself and lose every email and contact you've had since you started using it.

And before anyone even THINKS of mentioning it, Firebird is already up and running, thanks.

Ouch, you're right that's much worse than my situation. On another note,
How do you like Firebird? I was thinking of transfering over myself. Does it have an import feature or will I have to convert all my emails to .txt files?

You guys mean THUNDERbird, not Firebird, that's my car I can't get running at the moment

and I love thunderbird

as far as transferring, it will transfer all your outlook stuff, but it will be seperate from the thunderbird folders/address book...if you'd want it all together you'd have to drag and drop it I suppose

junk mail filter, love it

the only thing it won't do is grab mail from my hotmail account (which is owned by msn)

and remember outlook is really just an extension of IE, so if you use it you could still get viruses/spyware through it

Yeah, the import feature is a piece of cake, and will even import more than one email client if you're using say Outlook AND Outlook Express, but you're still SOL (and I don't mean Satellite of Love) if Outlook bombed on you like it did me.

I can even see the file, OUTLWVW.dll (this is your in/outbox, I believe), and it won't fuckin' read it. ARGH.
