Well if they simply stopped J-EBay and put back the 1 Jedi per account rules I think that would solve a lot of the problem as well.
But I agree more with Skar I'd rather see harsher penalties to keep the Jedi in check then to have grinding for (in my case 2 years) to get a Jedi and then in 2 months never be able to use him again. And frankly there are ways to make Jedi less noticable and to have them want to hide without going to the extreme of permadeath. I don't even mind after a certain number of deaths maybe have to start over and lose all my skills, but I don't want to lose something I've worked two years for completely.
Our RP vs. The Movie Arc.

This is actually how I play for the most part as well. Two aspects of the game that I really enjoy are mass pvp and RP, as crazy as that combo might sound. Mass pvp has been fairly scarce in RP context since Misha-Lina and -OvT- kind of fizzled out from their frequent Roba visits.Zannon wrote:All kidding and suggestions aside, here's how I keep the feel of the SW universe while I play SWG:
If I'm doing things in character with other RPers, then that's my SWG cannon. Interaction with anyone outside of the RP community I just consider playing the game.
For example: If I'm out hunting to get XP with a group of people on Dantooine, then that's just me playing a SW themed game. If I'm in the casino acting in character, then that's really happening to my character. Pretty much anyone outside of the RP community I just consider bystanders. Jedi dueling in front of the starport = two diplomats discussing the state of the civil war. Guy in nothing but hot pants and a Stormtrooper helmet sitting in the cantina = Bounty Hunter that is observing a mark.
I really hadn't realized that I started ignoring anyone in the game that is not an RPer until just now and I also didn't realized that when I'm grinding or doing a good deal of the missions in game I consider it OOC and not part of my character. That's just my take. I use my imagination to make my experience more Star Warsy. It's all about attitude toward the game world around you. If you have a good attitude and adapt to your surroundings and the people you're with, then you're going to fill in the voids that need more of a Star Wars feel, either with your imagination or with your RP.
Instead I usually hit up Theed. I wasn't the one that decided Theed or Naboo would be Jedi Wars HQ, but it is. It's like going to the Roba or Club Midnight knowing you'll get RP. I go to Theed and go overt because I know there will be some action to come along soon enough.
I don't degenerate into an ub3r 1337 d00d while I'm there. I consider what I do there to be me playing a game having fun, but I do try to remain somewhat in character, even if I really don't bring any of these experiences into my RP.
I can have my PvP and eat RP too.....

My view of the universe seems to differ from most posted here, but it helps in my immersion....
For me, most people are neither Reb nor Imp, just ordinary citizens going about their business...keeping the economy humming despite a partially lawless situation. In the process of tearing down the Empire, the Rebs have not yet reached the point of replacing the functions of law and order. That comes after Ep6. This is a growing time of robber barons and war lords.
Most of the Imp troopers are just doing their best to keep the peace and help the normal citizens.
The 1337 are just your typical teenagers - too many without much of parental supervision or training due to the current situation, so they have developed gangs as in 15th century Europe. They try to prove they are men by being macho and obnoxious.
As for the action in Theed, it is relatively easy to ignore the glow and humm, and just see it as a particularly lawless city where the kid gangs have the upper hand and West Side Story or Romeo Must Die takes place on a regular basis.
I duck or go around blaster bolts, I might watch a particularly good sword fight...I hassle back groups of kids who hassle me. I ask directions of ordinary citizens, NPCs if real ones aren't around, instead of using my /map.
I have found that RPing is fun, and fairly constant, on most of Gorath. The only place it becomes difficult is during cantina's when someone says ((brb, going AFK)) instead of excusing him/herself to, say, go to the restroom and then going outside to be AFK.
Just a few of my thots....
