A letter from WoW

As many of you know im taking a break (but will probably be back in the end of the month if economy goes well O.o) so how is WoW? Whats good? Whats bad? What suck? How is it you might ask, well here is my little mindnotes on the game and my thoughts about it...

1: Comparing the first time i played WoW with the first time i played swg is like comparing getting a ugly tie in gift compared to getting a silvermetalic porche in gift O.o First time i played swg (was dark, mos eisley, evening and a sandstorm were over the city) i screamed shouted and was totally MINDBLOWN! so i didnt freak out in such joy when i first tried wow as i did in swg, but dont missunderstand me its a really really cool game, but its a jabba fart in comparsion with swg's feel and atmosphere.

2: Guilds seams to mean nothing to ppl, at least the guilds ive been into, seams like some just think of it as "i get to have a cool guild name under my nametag" the ppl ive talked to dont seam to look at guilds as a way of friendship, having fun and helping eachother which is booooooooring, but the guilds ive been into is quite new tho =P

3: Wonderful to be able to go out and solo stuff AND GET EXP N LEWT MUAHAHA.... what really sickens me in swg is that after, hmm cl 5 or something its impossible to get any reasonable exp alone, in wow it feels GREAT to go out there alone, gutt stuff, or team up if you wish (but u get less exp tho =P) so thats something i love, especially if youre a hunter and have a fuzzy big bear at your side ready to slash any gnolls and trolls you might encounter

4: INCREDIBLE PLACES, there is this place called ironforge, first time i saw it my jaw dropped, its like 20-30m up to the roof, a gigantic enormous mine with huuuuge pillars n stuff, with a big squarelike thingy where ppl sit on their fancy mounts, duel eachother and do commerce, it cant be said by words some of the places in wow is astonashing and you cant get enuff of it O.o

5: Selfish morons! Most people i meet is selfish, egocentric and dont help, in contruary they duel newbs wich are waaay lower than themself in level and suh dispicable things =P ive asked a few times within my guild and at other places but no1 wanna help, two three times tho ive been lucky n got a handful of silver coins, i miss the helpful atmosphere in swg, ive got loads of help in swg from guild n ppl but in wow it is darn rare =P

6: Cool races classes and professions, i really like the undead, they are kinda funny and look cool, i have a rogue undead dude with two chains in a X over his face and spikey hair, looks gruesome but cool, even though you cant customize your avatar so incredibly much as you can in swg they are still cool n there is like 5-6 things you can change (lfor humans for example its skin color hair color hair style face style and facial hair style) The classes are also very cool, rogues can for example go stealth and sneak around n its incredibly hard to see him if in a duel, mage is lotsa fun too, i luv the smell of roast n toasted zombies in the morning, they barrage their foes with big fireballs and arcane explosions n stuff O.o Except for classes there is also professoins, you can have two of those, you can be fisherman, cook, blacksmith, miner, herbalist, enchanter, alchemist etc, sometimes i wish it was like this in swg that you could have a certain number of skillpoints outside the combat skillbox poitns so you can be a crafter n still go out n kick azz.

Conclusion: Well wow is loads of fun and it will take looong itme before i get tired of it, but its a wompyrat poop in the corellian sea compared with the brilliance of swg, its just that ive grown bored of swg thats why i take the pause. If you love fantacy, like shooting fireballs from magic twigs or hack n slash your way as a orcish warrior thru hordes of critter, then ull luv this, it has tons of new stuff i havent seen in any mmorpg.

Swg kicks wow's ass big itme!
but
wow is tons of fun fun fun anyway =)

If you haven't Played Dark Age of Camelot I suggest you take a look at it. If you like the midieval themes and such, it has great gameplay.
they have a bunch of servers, and they try new things all the time.
In the game you choose from the "realms" which are:
Hybernia- nature loving elves, druids. very celtish realm.
Midguard- Viking like race of humans, with Trolls and a race called Kobolds, which are little blue people. I personally like playing a troll
Albion- the land of Camelot, nice lush plains. They have plate armor wearing champions, Saracens, and half Ogres.

you can have up to 8 characters on each server, and no limit on amount of servers you have characters on. If you get the most recent expansion you can have 10 per server.
The most recent expansion also changed the character customization options, and graphics.

The game gives you several options. Each Realm has it's own lands, and then a Frontier with keeps. Inside the land of your realm you can PVE without any fear of a PVP attack, but inside the frontier there are still dungeons and monsters, but there is constant PVP fighting to control the keeps.
Controlling the most keeps gives your realm access to a special dungoen called "Darkness Falls" which is a hellish place with great drops. There are several other game mechanics which I wont go into...

but here is some cool stuff they do: RP only servers- you click an agreement when you log onto an RP server, if you have a crazy name, or talk about the latest news or computer stuff, you get suspended or banned. IC chat only.
PVP server- after you hit a certain experience level you are open to PVP from anyone everywhere. This server used to be a couple different ones, but they combined it into one. It is the only server where PVP is done not only in the frontiers, but almost anywhere, anytime.

in this game you not only have groups, but you can combine groups to form battle groups where several 8player groups combine. In the frontiers it is not uncommon to see keep attacks with 50+ people. Large open field clashes are really exciting when large masses clash against eachother. This is something I havent seen ever in SWG.

anyway, didnt post this to steal WoW thunder or anything, just figured I would tell you about yet another MMO.

soon they will be putting up a server where no Bot acounts (healers and buffs) are needed, and the grueling mastery level quests, and artifact weapons and armor are not in play. This server should be a test of skill, not one of time invested!

(edit) Guilds on this game are really good and usually close knit. My old guild (which is still going) consisted most of my family members, and some close friends. Some others joined the guild, and some of us had alts in other guilds, but we mostly all got along. Some people dont like beggars, but in a lot of cases anymore, they are just glad to see a new face, and will drop some gold on you.

It really depends on the guild and the people in it. It sounds like you've not had the fortune of meeting a good guild. I suggest you make every effort to get yourself in a good guild. This will enhance your gaming experience by leaps and bounds.
3: Wonderful to be able to go out and solo stuff AND GET EXP N LEWT MUAHAHA.... what really sickens me in swg is that after, hmm cl 5 or something its impossible to get any reasonable exp alone, in wow it feels GREAT to go out there alone, gutt stuff, or team up if you wish (but u get less exp tho =P)
SWG does a poor job of making the leveling experience enjoyable. It is a grind from day 1. Hours upon hours of repetition, and the rewards are very limited. But, let's give SWG a pass. WoW is a newer game. You expect newer games to be enhancements to older games. WoW gives you quests so you can get immersed in the story of your race at the early levels, thus making it seem more like an adventure and less like a grind.
You are so right about that. I died when I saw IronForge for the first time, totally blown away. The environment is gorgeous in WoW. It really adds to the immersion. You can't walk through half the zones in the continent of Kalimdor and not get the feeling that there was a huge elven empire there before. Every race, current and past, has it's own architecture. The sceenery is not repetive at all.

And yes, like you I cannot get enough of it.

SWG beats wow when it comes to the toons, tons more customization in addition to crisper graphics.

Again, luck of the draw. I play on Argent Dawn, of of the oldest and most established RP servers. We do have our share of morons, but there are also some really cool people there as well. You just need to find them. :)

Don't expect people to give you money. Currency is actually hard to earn in WoW.

I enjoy the Forsaken for their RP potential. The character customization pales in comparison to SWG's.

The class system in WoW is much simpler than the multi-class system in SWG. I am still on the fence as to what is "better". In some ways, simpler has merit because there are definate roles to play in combat. In other ways, the simple class system feels cookie-cutter.

Personally I enjoy the defined roles in combat. It seems the SWG designers do too as the CU is a step towards this.

Each class in WoW offers you a completely different gaming experience. If you get bored with your "main", you can play an "alt" and have a great time.

The crafting system in SWG is much deeper than it is in WoW in that the quality of the resources effects the outcome. In WoW, there is no variance. The finished product is always the same.

To me, WoW is a better "play" when it comes to questing and PvP. Combat is much smoother and vastly more well thought out. It's just more fun. The "world" feels like a world. You can sense the history in each place you visit.

RP-wise, SWG > WoW. Character Customization, chat, emotes, animations, all the things that bring your character to life.. SWG does better. You can also shape the world in the form of cities and houses. The potential for RP immersion is much much better in SWG.

I used to say that SWG Lore > WoW Lore. And this will always be in the eye of the beholder.. but WoW lore is pretty cool. As I discover more and more, I enjoy it more and more. Every thing and every creature is there for a reason.
