Wow, how's this DPS?

I had my proton carbine sliced for damage, and a little speed
Then I put on a speed powerup

The DPS is high, but the actual damage you're going to do will be low. Because of the speed PuP, that gun will suck up all your action in a few seconds, and then you'll be stuck doing only ranged shot and placed shot. In general, DPS really doesn't do an accurate job of showing damage because it doesn't take action into account.

With that gun as you have it now, someone with a gun that has say, 500 DPS, will outdamage you simply because he can do more specials (And if he has an SAC PuP on his gun, he can do A LOT of specials).

85 action isn't bad..I can usually string quite a few out

but I also use the pup that lowers the action cost to about 55, and with that I can pretty much shoot it constantly, of course the dps then shows lower, but it's still 650ish I believe

Well, I'm always looking at things with a PvP viewpoint. And personally, I would love to fight someone with a Speed PuP on their gun in PvP. However, I've got no idea how well the Speed PuP works in PvE, but with even the 85 action (Which is pretty low without a SAC PuP), when your speed is below one, you're going to rip through your action.

I've actually gotten the speed so low on my knucklers that there is no delay between specials...with it, I could do specials like Pre-CU. However, my action would be dead in about 5 seconds, and then I'd be stuck on melee hit.

However, I guess what you can do via specials depends also on your speed (My unarmed speed at the time was 210).
