Klingon Language Institute

Post Reply
So, I'm looking for obscure scholarships to apply for. I find one sponsored by the Klingon Language Institute. I just think that's freakin' sweet. Unfortunately, I don't really qualify for it. That'd be awesome if I did. I have fond memories of car rides for family vacations with those "learn to speak Klingon" tapes.

That is all.

Yeah, we all bought the book in college with the intent of learning it, and all any of us learned how to say was "Your ship is a garbage skow."

And even now, I don't remember how to say it, other than I think "dooj dooj" is in there somewhere.

Easy, Star Trek III: The Search for Spock.

If I remember... this was essentially, "Maltz, beam me up!" in Klingon.

On a side note... You've not experienced Shakespear until you've read it in the Klingon language.

Ugh...Klingons quoting Shakespeare. They lost me at #5 , but this was an extra shot of Phaser 2 to make sure I wouldn't get back up.

And not to totally geek out, but there is no "be" or any conjugation of it in Klingon.

They had to make it up just for that movie. I think that's the joke, the "you should hear Shakespear in original Klingon," because that scene would never work.

thats about like a Rammstein song in english... It loses it's luster. You cant really translate something like a poem, song, or shakespearian play and have it make any sense. Shakespeare wrote them so the lines had a rythm...

How bad can I spell today?
