I think that the overall pace of the game is too fast as it is. The fact that you can purchase your tickets regardless of whether you're in a Starport or Shuttleport and board the shuttle from anywhere inside the building itself makes it smooth enough, in my opinion.
Ten minutes in the Starport also supports the idea that "Hey, I am going into hyperspace, travelling thousands of lightyears". It's gonna take a bit longer.You don't HAVE to board the first transport. You could always wait for the 2nd one.
Why not calculate the relative distance between planets and assign yourself an appropriate wait time?
Ahhh, the age old gaming question... where to set the level of abstraction.
And if I'm saying that I didn't mind the wait and for what reasons, and outlining what I do during the wait, then I'd read "Yeah, I guess it does make a difference to him."
