Is it fun? I think so.

You know... despite all the bad stuff right now.... There is a ton of shit you can do in this game. All it takes is a little creativity to immerse yourself in a situation and make it into an RP event.

I have a habit of picking up noobs, showing them a good time (easy now) and teaching them how to play the game. I roleplay with them steadily, keeping everything game intensive in tells or groupchat. I let them know, flat out, I am a roleplayer, and try and get them into the spirit of things by not breaking character in tells.
Paying a noobie 10k to sit on the turret of my YT while I fly around is fun... Having a full crew of noobs do it is fun. You'll also find quickly, you have a little posse who wants to follow you around and learn the game.

I can land on any planet I want, and know my surroundings and make up an imagined reason to go explore something. Take 3 noobs to the Tusken fort to find a friend that doesn't exist... Take them out bantha hunting, because you so badly need fur. No... None of these reasons are personally worth while for me... But at least I'm enjoying the game, and creating a sense of wonder for the players near me.
For the most part... I'd love to enjoy this sort of experience with some of the old vets of our community... But everyone insists on bitching about how we have nothing to do instead of actually doing something.

Decorate your home.

Work on your ships.

Try and meet new friends.

Help noobies explore.

Roleplay with strangers.

Enjoy the combat system! It's not so terrible if you take a little time to figure it out.

Use the event coordinator and plan something one night for people! Get a friend to help you coordinate a little event.

I used to be the worst out of all of us for saying... "There is nothing to do here." But the new system isn't so bad that we can't survive it. Alot of what they have done is fun.

I'm afraid... In all honesty. As I really finally start enjoying this game, and playing with the tools that SOE has provided me with.... The community that kept me coming back for more, now is slowly dispersing.

Please don't take this post as an opportunity to flame the NGE.

How do you think we as a community can make this game entertaining for eachother?

Someone needed to say it.

This was true before NGE too though. The only thing lacking of us making something good or bad out of this is our want to. The feel is very much that a lot of us don't 'want' to right now. That's making it more difficult for those of us that 'want' to make something good out of this much more down trodden for trying to do so.

Yes! Let's bring back the Immersion Wars, too. I want to play, not grind. (I've always wanted to play, not grind. That's why it always took me sooo long to get to master anything.) I already know about grinding, I do it all day.

Hooray for Hojo, Yas'min, Isleh-lin, Rinna for PLAYING in the midst of all this griping.
