NGE Specials

The specials still use action ( Maybe mind for Medics and some of the Jedi abilities ).

If you are having trouble with getting you specials to go off, watch you action ( or mind ) and make sure you have enough.

For Spy:

Venomous Ploy: From what little PvP I've done, I've tried to use this as a way to block my opponets movement ( a total of one time =P ). For PvE, it's works great to draw an mob into.

Smoke Cloud: Stims do not break smoke cloud. Your heal ability will. What I found that works really well is that I run in and hit Venomous Ploy and draw agro. Someone else follows in close behind me. The mob works on my health until I used up my heal and then I use Smoke Cloud. This (usually) breaks me out of combat and I start to heal real fast. The mob then swaps over to someone with full health. My Heal will be ready before my stealth breaks and I usually get another stim in as well. I break out of stealth with my heal and I can start attacking the Mob. Batak and I have taken down super battle droids this way.

Arachne's Web & Spy's Fang work well together. I've seen them do noticeable damage to a mob while I was laying on my back waiting to clone on the corvette

Flash Bang: From what I've read, this is suppose to be a speed debuff. Not sure yet how to use this special ( or if it's working properly ).

For Jedi ( not really a special but a replacement until your's are fixed):

Look into Cryoban grenades. Grenades are level restricted now and not profession restricted to Commando anymore. Cryoban has a snare effect as well as a speed debuff from what I can remember this late at night and not having the text discription to read. I also don't have any to test with at the moment.

Crafted items, or are they loot only? I'm goin' shoppin' to snag some to try out, when I get home from work.

Crafted. Rare though. Trying to collect the materials to make 'em

Cryoban is a bust. It looks like all the effects fore grenades are turned off.

But there is still hope, because now you too can help the DEVs control the out-of-control spawn rate outside NPC cities. Just toss one of these babies into a crowd of mound mites or chubas and make sure your vizor on your helmet is down.

For Jedi specials like the stances and block, activate them on the run. Until the animation is fixed, you will waste time watching the animation. Running prevents the animation. It may also be a reason why you can't get defenses up in combat. So keep moving.

I love force block.

If you are fighting NPCs with blaster, it's better then smoke grenade.

Smoke grenade equals 30 seconds of healing. Force block is 30 seconds of immunity. Jedi's heal is faster than a spy's as well.

On the vette runs I started charging SBDs and throwing up force block. When that goes down, I put up a defense and retreat ( 50% miss ) and heal until I break agro. When it works and I close the distance again, force block is close to ready again.

And I have totally forgotten about force run when trying it

((This'll be a dbl post since it deals with Quest tips and consideration of using you Specials))

A tactic I will use is taking a little damage first. Why would I do that? Well, here's why:

After I take some damage I've also been dealing it out a little. Then I throw up my Force block. I usually throw up a deffensive and offensive damage buffer as well before I engage.

What does this do? Well, with how the timers work if I simply block/buff/fight and then start healing after my block goes down; I've waisted a little bit of combat time. Possibly 10 seconds of it. If I take damage first then block I've prolonged the fight because I usually have time to cycle through 2 heals with the block up.

I set my buffs. I take damage (perhaps a 1/3rd). I block. I heal. I deal out my damage specials and basic attack. Now that my block goes down and I may have more than one enemy attacking me... I've extended my heal zone a few seconds because I went ahead and took a few the first time. Works like a charm for me... this is how I've been able to take up to 3 white bar elites at the same time on the Vette so far.

And, yes, you have to pay attention to your Action. A special will not fire off if you don't have the action for it.

Always had to watch my action. Pre-CU, it was especially necessary for an entertainer. In combat, it got to the point that I watched other's action as well. I could (back before the CU and post CU) go to the aid of one of the low action group members. It would take the pressure off them for a few seconds.

Post CU, had to concentrate more on watchng the health, protecting medics and low level characters. But watching the HAMs became an SOP.

Pulling

Designate 2 safe spots. 1 spot close to the mob and 1 spot with a clear path to run to if you pull to many.

Move up to a group so the one you wish to pull is about 10m away. You may have to edge closer to get them to agro.

Wait until the question mark flys up from them and then move back to your safe spot throwing up your defenes.

If you draw more than one, you'll see the marks fly up from the others. Do as much damage as you can and then heal and retreat.
