I think it'd be great to organize a public rally against the Empire that was not militant in nature...then have an armed squad of stormtroopers come in to round up the protesters. Block them off and be like, okay, you guys can protest but don't do anything crazy or stupid. Then of course one of the young idiots gets brave and they get arrested for punching a guard or something.
I think it could be cool if we offer something for both Imperials and Rebels to do, and also if it's not just a "bash the Empire" fest. Protesters IRL usually have some authority that they're railing against that can actually do something to them as a consequence...that's why they're protesting, right? Hehe. On the same token not all the protestors should be beaten or arrested.
If the people running it are fair minded it could be balanced. However the problem with attracting people to RP this way is we'll get a lot of slap/punch/spit emoters on both sides.
Operation: Attract replacements.
If you rally against the Empire the best place to do it would be Anchorhead. Otherwise you'd get killed in Eisely.

This could go down very well...French a la molotov?
Seriously, who would organize it? Which side gets to win? (preferably the Imps, given the time line). What would the rules be? And when can we do it? (Prederably on a sunday.)
And most importantly, can we keep the glowsticks out of it? Have the wielders come incognito.

I am down, so long as we have a picket line and call them names like "scabs".

May I suggest you change your messege? Down with the Empire is a bit extreme. I mean, if you were screaming that out, you'd have to be expecting to be broken up by the use of Imperial force. And that's not just me talking as an Imperial. "Down with the Empire" is very extreme. How would you expect the military leaders of the Empire to act if you were calling for their destruction? With that kind of messege, you are just asking to be attacked. Perhaps change it to something about less taxes, or more freedom for the Outer Rim (it is Tatooine after all). That way, it is less of hatred towards Imperials, resulting in (probably) less /spits and /slaps on both sides.Rebecca wrote:What about a Protest?...
...Why not say... a public rally in Mos Eisley?
Something rebellious... obviously. "Down with the Empire."
Not only could it attract the attention of new players, but faction aligned players new and old.
It'd take some organizing. But I think it may work. What do you think?

I don't think Anchorhead is a good location for the protest... Mostly because Eisley is the place to be on Tatooine. There are more new players there daily, and in general gets more traffic. Remember, we want to be attracting outsiders... not just creating an event for ourselves.
We could go as far as to make up a reason to be protesting an action the empire has done. Less taxation on the selling of goods on Tatooine, less armed security on the planet.
We would want this to remain very IC amongst the major players... and also would like to demote the potential of OOC Rebs and Imps turning it into a flame war.
I don't think the Empire would allow any sort of protest in all fairness. An armed squad of stormtroopers would most likely arrive to chase people out of there... But once again, having stormtroopers open fire on a mob of protestors is definatley considered "immersion."

Bestine would be more realistic with the continual election. Sean Trenwell is the current mayor, so trade is up, though. That, and Rebecca's right. There's no place in the galaxy that will draw more new players than Eisley.
Think we can intertwine this with the Legacy quest series, or with Trehla's or the mayor of Eisley's stuff?

I know the community is on at odd times throughout the week... but may actually be a good venue for regular event on the weekends. A staged Event would work best... with room for outside interaction.
Example:
Protestors and our main Crowd Leader would, of course, be from the community here. We could have it about almost anything and the intention is to try and get new players involved with it!
"Pssst, hey, what are you people doing?"
"Roleplaying!"
Our other members would be the opposite affiliation there to liven things up. Could work out to be members of either Faction. The impression here is to give the audiance, and potential members, a good show.
"Pssst, hey, where can I get armor like that?"
"Come roleplay with us and I'll tell you about the Imperial forces!"
At it's core this sounds very simple.

So then... we got a reasonable plan and a will to make it work.
Casting calls anyone?
Any outstanding member of the community interested in leading a rebelious protest?
I know we have some tales folks with close ties on Tatooine...
We'd also need someone who could organize a bunch of imperial troops to try and halt the protest. Anyone who has a bunch of people willing to play dress up.
NPC roles would be nice as well.
Situations as eye grabbing as say... A man mourning his wife after one of the overzealous stormtroopers tosses a grenade into the crowd.
Actually thought it might be good idea to get a sort of planned fight in the streets to occur. I know pre-scripted RP isn't overly immersive for us, but this plan is to catch the eyes of strangers, a script might not be a terrible idea.
What about organizing some teams into different parts of a scenario?
With the right actors in play... you could create quite a scene.
So, a reason for the protest?
What if we made something up about a new law about slavery in the outerrim? Something that perhaps states legally that "twileks" must carry an ID that states wether they are a slave or a free citizen?
I dunno... I'm just kind of braintstorming here. Not sure if that would cause a protest. Well, that's why this topic is here. For more feedback from the community so we can come to a decision togethor.
Lets hear those ideas.

That Twi'lek idea sounds pretty good, plus I got a friend from when I first started playing the game. I've told her bout that I try and Roleplay as much as I can. Sh'es gotten very interested in RPing, and if you guys could organize something like this, i'd be willing to show up and bring her ealong, Though its a given that she may act a bit overzealous like I did when I came back, and sorry bout that all. But anyways, I could possibly even dig up a few more friends who would be interested in RPing. This would Deafntly get them interested, the protest thing.

I am up for an imperial part, I can bring in my AT-ST for effect as well

Lol. Your AT-ST turned loose on the innocent people with me around would kinda have a negative effect for the Imperials deppending on if my charecter is drunk. Incognito go I must.

I'll have to maybe do a little time planning something during the weekend in preparation for these next two weeks...
But, Let's do this and get it started. Who is planning on being around some this weekend? I'm thinking We'll do Eisley and one or two of us can roam looking for populated spots. We'll just do some adhoc RPing; bring it to the crowds and see what happens.
