Any ideas why an optical mouse would start fritzing out and just going dead randomly? Is it dying? I check the connections when the light goes dead and everything's hooked up solid like. It comes back on after a few minutes...
Everyone clap!! Clap if you believe in optical mice!!

the USB post it's plugged into my be failing or not getting the correct voltage
first try plugging it into another usb port
if it does the same on all the ports, your mouse is crapping out
if you're using a usb/mouse plug adapter, get rid of it and plug it into a usb like you should

I have six USB ports on my comp and all six are used, and a mouse extension thingy...so I guess that's my first guess.

well you'll have to unplug something usb you don't use very much and plug your mouse in there, to test it out...

Try all of the USB ports. If the mouse is still wonky after that, replace it or open it up and fix it. Electronics go out every now and then.
