Role playing without development to me is cardboard cutout characters. I think it's why Empire Strikes Back is my favorite of the episodes--drama changes and depth in the characters. No, not every event but some events, and overall taking into account all the historical events there should be change and development -- even if it is only developing new friendships or enemies.

The most interesting thing to me about RP is watching character development, and helping shape the way the world is seen. Perhaps thats because of my rich background in MMORPG's. To me its not so much what MY character is doing for me, but what impact is he having on what everyone else is doing. I've watched this game grow, and be punched around since beta...but I can say that I have never experienced the level of RP in any other game like I have in this game. When I talk to some of my long time gaming friends, they like to razz me because I still play a bad guy after all these years. My answer to them is always the same...Anyone can play a character who's views are accepted and seen as heroic to the masses. Playing the enigmatic, villanous scoundral is what takes alot of practice. Nobody knows what your going to do...nobody knows if that offer you give them is really help, or a fate worse then death.

I like to incite mystery and fear through the unknown. Only then can you see that the decisions character's make do have an impact on themselves and others.

Which, by the way, is why I think you're awesome. Without that, what are we supposed to be challenged by? And besides, we all know from Novall's background that he's not BLACK evil -- he's in that gray area.

But are all those places in the middle of a miltary target practice zone, middle of a field of landmines, or the event horizon of a black hole? Now that is the question.....

What I love about all of the villians is that they won't always be on the same side. Novall and I are both "bad guys," but I see an upcoming event where we will have to fight each other.

That's the beauty of a game like this. Just because you're a villian doesn't always mean you're the bad guy. This isn't a kiddie cartoon where you know that the person destroying the city is evil, and that's all he is. It's a dynamic game where the sides of "right" change all the time.

Look at the Skara Brae event. For the rebels, they will be trying to destroy another possible Imperial "super weapon." For me, it's a bunch of insurgents trying to terrorize the people of a local town on Naboo. Perspective matters as well.
