A whole lot of the list I would characterize more with the 80's.

Seems maybe like there's a lot of overlap, maybe? "Child of the 80s" memes and "Child of the 90s" memes have a lot of the same stuff...but if you were born in the early to mid 80s, you get a lot of the early 90s crap too because you were still young then. :)

Yeah, there's too much generational overlap on that list.

Like, Duck Hunt? Absolutely an 80's game. By the time 90's got into full swing, the SNES was debuting.

Strawberry Shortcake and TMNT were absolutely 80's items.

Then there's Easy Bake Oven and Lite Brite? Uh, those are 70's toys. Yes, they're still around today, but they really don't "define" the 90's.

Transformers, New Kids, Bon Jovi, Care Bears, Gremlins, Boom Boxes, all 80's.

Tomagachi? Beanie Babies? Power Rangers? I'd say yes :)

And "I've fallen and I can't get up" is from the original "Medic Alert" bracelet commercials. An old lady had fallen, and it was the poorest delivered line in commercial acting at the time. Laugh. RIOT. :)

Lessee...child of the '70s and 80's overlap with me.

"Psyche!" was definately 70s. Eddie Murphy, another child of the 70s, re-popularized it in the 80's with his "I Got Some Ice Cream" routine. (Wanna lick? Psyche!").

Plastic handlebar streamers...70s for sure. I remember.

I think every kid generation claims "their" Saturday morning toons as "the best".

Jordache? 1980's no doubt. "You got the look...I want to know better. You got the look that's all together...Working, playing. Day & night. Jordache has the look that's right..."(from memory).

Jean jackets & John Hughes movies...yep. 80's.

Michael Jackson? I remember the original album cover to "Off the Wall" (1979). Skin darker than Lando's with an afro. All subsequent reprints of the CD only show him from the waist down.*shrug*.(That was the first album I played over & over again).

"I've fallen and can't get up!" was Life Call.

"Don't Worry Be Happy". I will always remember this song because it got me through the night after I thought I got a girl pregnant. Couldn't sleep the whole night worrying at 17 years old...dozed off in front of the TV to wake up to this video. I thought to myself! "YES! I MUST be in the clear!!! (and was...LMAO).

Etch-a-Sketch, Easy Bake, Lite Brite all 1970's. (Anyone remember Spiro-Graph?)

I'd say Huuuuuge overlapping.

A 79' turkey baby, as it were, I solidify myself in the 80's. MTV, back when it was just starting, was just making a name for itself and was all about playing music videos with only a 'little' of the other types of programming.

G.I.Joe and Transformers! Boo-yah! Lived for my toons. And before the, uh, incident toward the end of the 80's it was things like Pee-Wee Herman and Ernest P. World that oddly caught my attention on Saturday mornings.

As for toys.... He-Man seemed to overwhelm the toy isles for a time. While the Popples and Rock Lords kind of just sat there like Little Orphan Annie begging for someone to buy them. Transformers and G.I.Joe were still popular; but usually sold out.

And, as a kid, I kind of got to see the trends set in high-school at the time through my older brother. Indiana Jones came out and everyone started sporting the Indy-like leather jackets (as I'm sure today's kids will associate trench coats with Reeves in The Matrix).

At any rate, ain't Nostalgia fun!

Ditto. Only mine was Thriller, but I did own a copy of Off the Wall somewhere.

Actually, the very first track (ON .45) I ever owned that I played incessantly was Disco Inferno. Same thing later with Bohemian Rhapsody (which my family loved, as we're part Bohemian, even though it has seemingly nothing to do with the song).

Hmm... In the eighteeeeees my time was split between GI Joe and NES. Mostly GI Joe. I had a pile of he-man crap also but I didn't really like it. The cartoon was kinda blah. I actually think She-ra was written better.

I still have a LOT of my GI Joe stuff. GI Joe Base, Cobra Raven, helicopters, vehicles, (even the old old old tank that took batteries), etc. Got my figures, but unfotruntely a lot of stuff is missing.

I just went through my old stuff in the last few days as I am clearing space in the house for the baby. I realized I kept the boxes to every Nintendo product I ever bought. And so now sitting in my basement are a SNES, NES and all acocmpanying games back inside their boxes, original plastic bags (even have the twisties lol) with the manuals and everything. I wonder if it will all be worth anything at some point.

Yes. When your middle-aged son or daughter sells it on eBay.

Oh man. I don't know what condition your NES is in but I know by the end of mines life it was a frankenstein. I had taken the cover off and rigged extra pieces to keep the game locked down at a certain spot so it would still play the cartridges.

I have the ROM's and play them on my PC but I would love to still have Contra, Tetris, and Zelda. That would make me a happy man. I could play them for hours. Jackal was another one I really liked.

I bought one of those Gameboy Advances when I was overseas. I see I can get most of the old games for it.

GI Joe. I have the original base and the base that was three stories that had tracks so it could move. Sky Striker, rattler, dragonfly, fang, and a bunch of other crap I can't think of right now.

Okay...who mailed in the Hasbro proofs-of-purchase to get the "Duke" action figure sent to them in the mail?

/raise hand

Boba Fett, with the Kenner proofs?

/raise hand

After 3 days, I was on the mailbox every day like glue for both of them. The Duke figure came during the summer so I was meeting the mailman on the front lawn.

Norman Rockwell, eat your heart out.

Well, I did Boba and I think the Ben figure, and Hammerhead.

No Duke figure mailin for me, but I had my fair share of G.I. Joes. The current Joe toys aren't even half as well made. My kingdom for my old Mosquito and the F-14A they made. /drool

Dang, I'd almost forgot about those mail in proofs.

Jazz for the Transformers as well!

Oddest one I remember... a mail in for a Gizmo plush from the Gremlins. It came in a shoebox. I'll never forget that.
