Well, I figured out why they moved GenCon from Milwaukee, WI to Indianapolis, IN...IT'S THE FREAKIN' SMELL HERE. The whole city smells like raw sewage and the sewer grates steam all the time. I thought that only happened in Batman and Ghostbusters movies!!! The whole city actually out-stinks the average GenCon attendee!!!
The drive here was uneventful, which was a good thing.
Anyway, this is a public computer so I have to go. Hope everything is under control here, cuz I don't have time to check the posts.
What's that smell...
Try going to Detroit dawg... All they got is crumpled newspaper-tumbleweeds and steaming sewers as well...
Hope your having fun.

Two words: Terre Haute.
Ask Skarr. The smell is lethal there. It's actually ranked the #2 smelliest town in America, and as I've never been to the #1 town, it is THE worst smelling town I've ever been in (and I've been to Indy and Detroit).
You guys can swing by there on your way back from Indy if you'd like and sample the stench. It's in Northern Indiana.

Sudden thought. This is where Celebration III is going to be. =/ Big Star Wars con. Aaaaaaaagh. Though I suppose it makes sense, there has to be at least as many geeks at a Star Wars con as at Gen Con... right?

I think it is a different kind of geek, even though there is a large degree of overlap.Dwilah wrote:Sudden thought. This is where Celebration III is going to be. =/ Big Star Wars con. Aaaaaaaagh. Plus, the star wars geek is more likely to bring his or her significant other into the fold because it is not really all that hardcore. A significant other usually implies some sore of hygiene is practiced. I imagine the star wars geeks smelling significantly better than the GenCon geeks.

True...though I hate to think you're implying I'm not hardcore. Rarar. Smell my fan...ness that lies in my good hygiene.

Well, being a SW geek is somewhat "in" now. I imagine this drives down the average level of stench across SW fandom as the "average" fan is probably someone pretty "normal".Dwilah wrote:True...though I hate to think you're implying I'm not hardcore. If only that was true when I was in high school...Ekade wrote:Well, being a SW geek is somewhat "in" now.
On strange but related note, my wife who works at a social service agency just got a new client... He was the high school bully that used to slam my head in the bleechers in gym class. He's in a wheel chair now.
I don't relish in it - feel bad for him actually, but life works in strange ways sometimes.

My Jr. High bully (who I beat in a fight [but didn't beat enough to my liking], which ended his hostilities towards me) died a few years ago in a drug overdose with three of his "friends" in the back of a stinky van on a dingy street in Chicago.
I remember being upset, but not for humanitarian reasons. I was pissed that I'd never get the chance to throttle him *properly*. I was never happy that he only cried in front of me after the fight, after everyone else had already left. It needed to be in front of the crowd (he instigated the fight, and all of the bullying).
What's that you say? I need to let go? ;)
