Anyone tried out DDO Beta yet?

Feedback from my bro admittingly has me enticed though, like WoW, I've heard it's probably not really an RPer's paradice. More of a Quest MMO. But, for D and D fans... it sounds like it's already a hit.

Just curious...

I heard this game makes SWG at launch look like a final product.

LoL...

Well, I've heard of the bugs as well. Sounds like they went with the 3rd Edition Rules for the game though. So, it probably is a little familiar in the original SWG custumization way.

aka... ya can be a wizard/fighter/thief. You just won't be as good as a full thief at detecting traps; etc, etc.

Some instances require that you have a specific class with you too.

Elves have a night vision of sorts I guess as well.

Still inticed... but... I've heard a LOT of bad things about it too.

I enjoyed it, although I didn't play it non stop for hours, it ran well for me. I am not a huge D&D fan but the game itself was enjoyable, I dont know that it would hold my attention like SWG has, but it was a nice change.

Here is my impression, albeit a bit biased since I work for the company that is making it...

I think it is a very fun game to pick up every now and then. I do not think it will take the place of SWG for any of us. Us players that enjoy SWG demand more from our MMO's I believe. DDO is very fun is short spurts. It intends to be an online version of the pen and paper game, and I personally think it nails that aspect of it. If you are expecting SWG or WoW, keep looking. If you wish to re-live the days of pen and paper gaming in an online medium this game is for you.

Graphically I think the game looks very nice, the character creation is quite robust. I am not referring to the look and appearance so much as I refer to picking your stats and skills. It reminds me of rolling up a character like in the old days of playing pen and paper. It has narration for most of the dungeons that acts like a DM telling you what you see, I think that is a nice touch. It also has built in voice chat for groups which is a nice feature.

If you can afford the game and the monthly fee and you loved playing the pen and paper D&D this is certainly the game for you. All you need is some pizza, soda, and your friends playing with you to re-live the experience.

If only I could tell you about LOTRO... ;)
