Rumor has it all the Japanese servers are going away and all Japanese players will be finding new homes on the servers we already know of. Can anyone copnfirm this? I thought they were just letting Japanese players join us, not forcing them out.

From what it sounds like, they will be forced to join one of our servers. However, to give them enough time to choose...they have made the date Feb 21 for them to transfer over to another server.

The japanese servers are planned to be shut down for over a month now, they were just waiting for the Char Transfer Service to work correctly with the NGE.
Japanese People dislike SWG comparing it with all the other MMOs and Gameing Industry In Japan, actually its thought to be quite outrageous to charge money for a MMO in Japan
They are given the opportunity to go to the other servers for the hardcore SW fans i guess, wich are obivously only ppl left no wait im a hardcore SW fan and im not left

I believe EA had the rights for the Japanees servers and did not op to renew the license. Therefore the Japanees customers are getting the option to continue playing by merging with the SOE servers.

Probly not. I made a character on the Japanese servers way back when for the hell of it. Started me with the same goggle choices I had on the US servers, not what they got.

Ok i've debated posting this as i know how rumors turn into wild fires. Please dont let this happen to this post, this isnt one of those my brothers uncles best friends sister works at SOE deals. I'm telling you this because I would want to know if there was anyone who had any information on where SWG was going. I know some of you love the old game as much as i do.
I do not know what SOE is doing, SOE dont even know at this point. I do know that what we know as the NGE is going away. And this is good.
Where I got my information:
Someone that is very close to me is a LA employee. I'm gonna keep this very vauge to ensure nothing bad comes to her for this. She's not a higher up at LA she's only present in the same office where there are cheifs. 10 months ago i asked her what was going on with SWG and she replied, "Whats SWG?" Since feb, 7 2006, she's learned alot about SWG at work. She knows who John Smedley is, She knows what Pre-CU is, She knows what a roll back is, Among many other things, she seems to be an expert now. I've asked her to ask some questions and find some things out for me. She did the best she could and she brought me alot of information. It seems that SWG is the talk of the office now days. Much of this is just rumor from her office and not known as fact. Some of it is known as fact. I cant distinguish between them as i only know what i was told. And she only knows what she hears or reads. One thing is for sure, something big is happening to have so many people talking.

Please take this information for what it is (2nd hand). Please dont ask me a million questions because i've posted everything i know here. I've been pushing my luck trying to get all the info i can. The best way to make this game fun, and enjoyable would be pre-cu and Cu as a whole.
Take armor resists, Strengh of buffs and a more balanced combat system in the CU, the need for more well rounded group. Pre-Cu was fun because even though battles were long they were fast action without the need for an FPS system. I had fun with jedi yes, but it wasnt for me and Im glad I made my money from my first account that was one pre-cu. The best way for a new system to work. Mobs of the same lvl ala CU = Tough fights but worth it. We want loot, but nothing to replace the beloved Crafters.
As anyone on my vent knows my biggest love for this game has always been if I want somthing, and I want it as best as it can be..Find a crafter, pay them well. I hated/loved the fact that if I was on Mustafar with toront,Zo,Novall etc. runing quests doing tons of fights in three days maybe 4 of hard fighting I was off buying another chest plate,leggings and Helmet. Making contacts for armor and weapons also lead to the possibility of Roleplay with such people, whenever asked about my armor in RP I always refered Arlisan, When it came to my ships it was zannon, clothing which I never wore I said look in Noc lol.
As much fun as the NGE is, and most will agree, the love for this game came from spending an hour or so finding what we needed, or waiting for our friends to get on and ask em for it cause we wanted to support their business. If they want this game to bring back the players of old, and bring in the players of new, they need to combine the best aspects of CU and pre-cu.

Pep talks on both of them. But... they are saying their going to keep things up on Test Center a little longer before pushing live this year. Focusing on making the 9 iconic professions a little more unique to each other (presumably an example of this is having to choose wither to use your offensive or deffensive buff as a Jedi for an hour now) which starts with the publish tomorrow.
Their saying they've still got at least 200k subscribers too. So, maybe there is hope... and little truth to server merging... well, save for the Japanese ones.
Devs... just say no to server merge.

I read them, and I didn't see anything new and exciting, no roadmap, no news about the timeline advance. Its crap like that that makes the above rumor seem more possible. Thank gawd Empire at War comes out on Wed
