SWG Tales seeks out to enrich the Star Wars roleplaying experience by supporting the community at large. We are here so that players can easily communicate, plan events, and develop story arcs that are occurring in the community. We hope that players feel free to come here and write about their characters and stories in a format that is easily accessible and shared. It is our purpose and hope that this website results in better engagement and experiences for all who participate.
SWG Tales Moderation Policies
The SWG Tales rules are pretty straight forward. As stated, we want the site to be a place that is a boost to the community, and that is the philosophy that these rules are based upon.
No Flame Wars
People disagree, and that's cool. However, personal attacks because of a difference in opinion are just lame, and things can quickly get out of hand on an online setting because of them. Don't flame. Play nice, and use lots of smileys, or something...
Keep the Forums on Topic
We tried to set up forums that cover broad enough categories for whatever topics you might have. When in doubt, re-read this document.
Post in Good Taste
SWG Tales does not judge or preclude anyone from exploring explicit or violent themes in their role play. The primary focus of the stories on SWG Tales should remain about realistic things that could happen in the Star Wars universe. With that in mind, explicit content should add to the story at large and not be the entire point of the story. Posts that center around explicit sexual content or violence don't generally have a place at SWG Tales. Comments or posts of this nature will be subject to the moderation policies set forth in this document.
Abide to Forum-Specific Rules
If a forum has specific rules posted, please read them. Extra rules don't usually exist until there is a reason for them.
IC and OOC Posting
In Character (IC) posting should primarily be done in forums marked as
in the description. Other forums are assumed to be for out-of-character (OOC) posting unless otherwise stated.Religious and Political Discussions
These topics may be discussed strictly within the scope of the Star Wars universe. There are plenty of other places to discuss real life religion and politics.
Enforcement
In order the enforce our policies, moderators have the ability to edit messages (rare), lock, delete, and move entire threads in forums where they are granted those rights. Administrators are granted the same rights up to and including permanent deletion of content, removal of user accounts, and banning.
The format of the board, and the rules for posting on are here are designed to help keep conversations civilized, productive, and fun. We want everyone to be able to be free enough to express themselves within the limitations of the rules and the laws of their country. We will only approach users about a problem when what they're doing is clearly against the rules, terms of service, or there is something that obviously needs to be dealt with to keep the conversation on track. We consider policing the the forums as something that is hopefully largely unnecessary.
When deemed necessary, moderators will...
- Edit or delete the offending replies in the thread in question. Offending user(s) will be warned when this happens.
- Lock and/or remove the offending thread or message if deemed inappropriate.
- Private message the user, tell them what has happened and why. Notify the admins to inform them of the problem.
- If the user(s) are still getting out of hand, do not acknowledge private messages, or do not stop the behavior, the previous moderation steps will be utilized.
- If the user(s) persist, the administrators will revoke posting privileges and/or issue bans. This is a last resort. It really shouldn't get to that point (we hope).

We may change these at any time and we’ll do our utmost in informing you, though it would be prudent to review this regularly yourself as your continued usage of "SWG Tales" after changes mean you agree to be legally bound by all terms set forth in this document as they are updated and/or amended.
Our website is powered by custom software powered in part by open source solutions that fall under the "GNU General Public License v2" (hereinafter "GPL") and "MIT License". As such, SWG Tales is a website provided "AS IS" without warranty of any kind.
By accessing this site, you agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening or any other material that may violate any laws be it of your country, the country where "SWG Tales" is hosted or International Law. Doing so may lead to you being immediately and permanently banned, with notification of your Internet Service Provider if deemed required by us. The IP address of all posts are recorded to aid in enforcing these conditions. You agree that "SWG Tales" has the right to remove, edit, move or close any content at any time should we see fit. As a user you agree to any information you have entered to being stored in a database. While this information will not be disclosed to any third party without your consent, neither "SWG Tales" nor any of it's third party software providers shall be held responsible for any hacking attempt that may lead to the data being compromised.
Privacy Policy
This policy explains in detail how we use any information collected during any session of usage by you (hereinafter "your information").
Your information is collected via two ways. Firstly, by browsing "SWG Tales" will cause the website software to create a number of cookies, which are small text files that are downloaded on to your computer’s web browser temporary files. The first two cookies just contain a user identifier (hereinafter "user-id") and an anonymous session identifier (hereinafter "session-id"), automatically assigned to you by the software. A third cookie will be created once you have browsed topics within "SWG Tales" and is used to store which topics have been read, thereby improving your user experience.
We may also create cookies external to the core software whilst browsing "SWG Tales", though these are outside the scope of this document which is intended to only cover the pages created by us and our third party software. The second way in which we collect your information is by what you submit to us. This can be, and is not limited to: posting as an anonymous user (hereinafter "anonymous posts"), registering on "SWG Tales" (hereinafter "your account") and posts submitted by you after registration and whilst logged in (hereinafter "your posts").
Your account will at a bare minimum contain a uniquely identifiable name (hereinafter "your user name"), a personal password used for logging into your account (hereinafter "your password") and a personal, valid email address (hereinafter "your email"). Your information for your account at "SWG Tales" is protected by data-protection laws applicable in the United States. Any information beyond your user name, your password, and your email address required by "SWG Tales" during the registration process is either mandatory or optional, at the discretion of "SWG Tales". In all cases, you have the option of what information in your account is publicly displayed. Furthermore, within your account, you have the option to opt-in or opt-out of automatically generated emails from the our software.
Your password is ciphered (a one-way hash) so that it is secure. However, it is recommended that you do not reuse the same password across a number of different websites. Your password is the means of accessing your account at "SWG Tales", so please guard it carefully and under no circumstance will anyone affiliated with "SWG Tales", or another 3rd party, legitimately ask you for your password. Should you forget your password for your account, you can use the "I forgot my password" feature provided by us. This process will ask you to submit your user name and your email, then the software will generate a new password to reclaim your account.
