Expansion

Ok, another of my many idea's that I'd like to possibly get rolling but would also need a lot of support in setting up. As I've said many times I don't get a lot of time in game but I would like to start expaning the realm of RP in an organized fashion. I'm aware of Nocturnus on Lok, Dohrain on Talus as RP cities. Now if i'm not mistaken there's probably roughly 60 players combined most of which are heavy RP players. Would it be possible for everyone to post any other cities they know of that have a large population of RP players as well as possibly the mayor of the city? I'd like to try contacting the mayor of each city to start a RP board for Gorath sort of speak. It could be a chance to increase the content for politians with them being able to go back and set up ballot boxes with current issues presented by the board and get the approval of the RP community in each town. I thought perhaps that for every 20 RP players in the city that city would get 1 rep to sit on this board. This would allow for some democratic system while still allowing the majority a slight advantage with one city possibly getting an extra vote or two. I would think a monthly or weekly gathering to discuss issues such as expansion would be a great idea. As the size of each city grew on of the reps on the board for that city could request the support of the board and other cities to found a new city which would prevent any one city from over powering the boards votes by becoming over populated. This could also increase the sandbox we have to play in sort of speak. Meeting minutes could be published possibly in the Gorath Times so that everyone can keep up on the current issues and know if they need to vote for implementing some content they would love to see in the game. Again thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as well as any information to help get this started.

Thanks

This idea is what birthed these boards. Problem with doing councils ingame is that you can rarely ever get everyone on at the same time. The problem with making MORE player cities is that you decrease the amount of support for the current ones. Then people are gonna get spread to think with planning 10000000 events ect...and quit.

Ok, I can see that point. But I don't want to thin out any cities, only cities with say over 45 people or something. Keep a city at around 30-50 except for a few. I just think we need some sort of support system to encourage RP growth and expand where we can go to RP. Like I was in Nocturnus for the first time the other night and it felt so great to be able to walk in and everyone was RPing to begin with, I could just jump right in. I just wish there were more then a few cities that were like this.

See that's the thing, I'm still debating on where to live, and I've loved Nocturnus but I want to be able to spread the RP so not sure if I should go to a less populated RP city or stay with an established one.

I will again cite the RP Theory of Critical Mass. If RP is spread too thin, it will slowly starve. I am always trying to bring people together. When people are together, they have fun. :D

Another thing, RP communities also need those special catalysts. These are the storytellers, GM's, visionaries, idea people, whatever you want to call them. Note that I am not de-emphasizing the importance of the players themselves. This is a symbiotic relationship. These are simply different roles that need eachother.

I would like to see at least 3 or so good working models of RP cities that work together. This provides great interpersonal RP as well as conflict based, or political RP. I think this would be the ideal environment for the player who wants to RP all the time (like me).

I am not sure how my ramblings got me here.. I swear I had a point somewhere in my thought process. Oh well, consider this my collection of random opinions. :D

In short.. do what you think is best for the RP community. If it is not working, try something else. I will tell you that the concept of "togetherness" and "community" is working. Just look around here. :)
