How do the chips work? They're for droids, right? What if we don't use astromechs?

Astromechs are only used by rebels in the Y-wing's and the X-wing. All other ships require the use of a flight computer. The Unprogrammed droid chips work the same in either. The Unprogrammed droid chips are only used to transfer commands from one person to another, so it is possible for Rebels to use commands that are granted to Imperials or Privateers. Trading commands between professions is very helpful to maximize the output of some of your systems. Much like other aspects of JTL there are a lot of options as to which Droid Commands to use, granting us various options as to which systems to enhance. My personal favorite is the Weapon Capacitor overcharger granted to Privateer pilots. I am able to bump my 1000 energy capacitor up to 1700. My capacitor hardly ever runs out of energy now. I am sure you guys have components and everything available to you with Zannon in town, but I know a pretty good Ithorian Shipwright named Blamm Thirteen. He and I are very close ;)

As Trasgo said, they're used via droids in xwings and Ywings. If you don't use astromechs, I'd recomend flying something that doesnt' require them then. I'm requring everyone to use weapon tunning 4 because it drastically reduces the damage of all weapons, and I don't want this to be a 2 shot everyone's dead thing. If you don't have a ship which doesn't use astromechs, you can always ride gunner with someone.
