What do you mean? Free reign?
Normally I would agree with you, although I've enjoyed most of the books I've read but you do have a point in most cases. However if I'm not mistaken when Salvatore decided to do the book he gave Lucas a list of characters because he felt someone needed to die and Lucas picked Chewie as the character Salvatore could kill. From there I think he sort of had a little creative wiggle room on how that would happen.Keer wrote:Agreed. Lame. Though I wouldn't blame Salvatore. Given a more free reign from the publisher, I think Salvatore would have done it slicker. Look at how raw Drizzt is. Given freer reign I think all of the SW books would be alot better.Hashum wrote:I just have to point out how annoyed I am that R.A. Salvatore couldn't kill off one of his own fantasy characters so came over to Star Wars and had to wipe Chewie out in a very unwookiee like death.
I doubt this will be a problem, there were 100's of Jedi and order 66 in my opinion would only have been the beginning. Not all Jedi could have been out with Clone Troopers at the time of the order so this would have required a more long term purge.Jerrel wrote:Yeah cann't wait for the Outbound Flight story. I met Mr. Zahn at Comi-Con 04 and he signed my Survivors Quest and said that the prequell to the book would answer alot of questions. Considering that all his stuff that he wrote that refered to the prequells time period made the assumtion that there was time between the end of the Clone Wars and the Jedi Purge I wonder how he is going to handle this.
Actually in the Thrawn trilogy its stated that the Emperor had conmissioned the Outbound Flight and filled it with some of the most powerful jedi. If this occured after order 66 why would the Emporer put any Jedi on it and why would any jedi go. In the trilogy it also states that Outbound went after the war when the senate didn't have a war to worry about.Hashum wrote:I doubt this will be a problem, there were 100's of Jedi and order 66 in my opinion would only have been the beginning. I haven't read the book, all you said was that it made it sound like the purge took place after the clone wars (or at least part of it) so I was simply saying that were this the case it wouldn't be so far fetched. If there are other factors you failed to mention such as the emperor sending the Jedi after the clone wars then yes that would be a problem.Jerrel wrote:Actually in the Thrawn trilogy its stated that the Emperor had conmissioned the Outbound Flight and filled it with some of the most powerful jedi. Sorry I made the assuption that you read the Thrawn trillogy. Its a really good read. It is the frist matterial to metion the Outbound Flight. In these books it is also metioned that there was a short time between the end of the Clone Wars and the Jedi Purge but Lucas threw that out the door with RotS. I'm interested in how, with this change, Zahn is going to handle the Outbound flight. Will he ignore what he wrote, or will he pull a rabilt out of his hat and deal with the inconsistancies?Hashum wrote:I haven't read the book, all you said was that it made it sound like the purge took place after the clone wars (or at least part of it) so I was simply saying that were this the case it wouldn't be so far fetched. Yeah.. part of the reason I disliked Episode I so much was that I *knew* the cool stuff that needed to be covered would get short changed. I mean.. did we really need to see so much of Anakin as a little boy? Did we need the pod race, jar-jar, etc.?E-bo Obi wrote:Yet another reason I felt episode 3 was extremely rushed. He threw too much into it to tie up the loose ends and in my opinion it wasn't done well. I mean as soon as grievious dies the the jedi are all slaughtered or so you would think by the way the movie showed it. The war effectively was over when grevious died. There was no real leadership left for the enemy and conceivably at this point a project could have been launched because there would be no need to have all the Jedi fighting.
