I am a tad confused about the 0% midwestern. I hav never lived outside of the Chicago suburban area except for when I was at school in missour-ah, and all I would EVER hear from people is how I had a midwestern accent.
Although I personally feel that "midwestern accent" means "lack of colloquial pronunciations". Linguists say that most network news anchors speak in what can be considered a "midwestern accent" because it sounds more plain and universal than other American dialects.
For example, "Where are my keys?".. a Chicogoan would way "Where are my keys at?"
My relatives from Maryland accuse me of having a midwestern accent and I say the same thing.. "I don't have an accent." I don't get it.
Where my bitches at?
Well I guess I do. Other regional dialects don't use prepositions? Man, no wonder no one knows what they are talking about. They just aren't specific enough!
