What exactly is Vonage?

Alirght, I've tried putting the Vonage Box between my modem and router, and turning on bandwith limiting settings on maximum, but still can't get a clear signal when DLing. I've even limited my own bandwith for filesharing and still can't get a clean signal. I can't recommend Vonage for anyone who likes filesharing. Gonna get rid of it next week. Can't see paying for a service that doesn't work the majority of the time with normal use.

Oh, and Vonage is a phone over IP service for broadband connections. It's feature rich and very reasonably priced.

How fast is your connection Gaar?

My connection on average:
over 200.00 KB/s down or 1600 Kbps
over 15.00 KB/s up or 120 Kbps

They are both twice that in optimal situations. These are numbers from vague memory when I first got broadband. I can't get a good report while the Vonage service is still running.

Vonage needs 30 Kbps for normal phone quality. So that's 3.75 KB/s (I'm not sure which standard yer used to, so I use both). Mine, like most broadband connections, has poor upstream, and that is why Vonage is working like crap while filesharing. It just can't handle multiple upload connections. Unless yer ISP is generous with the upstream, don't bother with Vonage if you like filesharing.

It should also be mentioned, with Vonage you won't have phone service when the power or broadband is out. It's not reliable in emergency situations.
