If there is another SW MMO the changes should be as follows(in my opinion)
1. PVP and PVE servers.
2. Jedi PVP should be moved to their own server. Make the penalities for Jedi force moves to be instant death in cities(this would only apply to PVE servers) As in, Imperial dropship full of Stormtroopers(I've seen it done before)
3. Overall, less grinding! What's so fun about banging your head up against a wall every night?
4. Jedi box progression should be quest based. Still keep the Combat to Force XP, but only for certain boxes.
5. Completly take away maintence on harvesters.
6. Give quest weapons/armor per level. Create more instanced dungeons that require the help of others and can't be solo'd. Make cantina's a focal jump point to enter into the instance(borrow this from WOW).
7. Bring back the PVP arena.
8. Bring back good xp! No one expects to grind up a level 80 character overnight. Make it worthwhile to group!
9. Reward casual players! Not all all of us can devout 8 hrs a day to playing. Now, I don't expect this to become another WOW, but WOW does have a good idea in giving "rested xp". If your character is "rested" say in a cantina, xp gained would have a multiplier attached. Non rested players would only receive regular xp. This is wonderful idea.
10. Fix the continuity! Why is Obi-Wan living on Mustafar? Why does he have a house on Tatooine(implying a post Episode IV time line)? Is Obi just one big gigolo?
11. Make Jedi PVP optional! If SOE/Lucasarts insists on making the Jedi hard to attain, it should reward those that have reached this level. Upon reaching Jedi, you should have the option of becoming PVP enabled or keeping the standard PVE. In either situation, player bounty hunters can still hunt Jedi that show up on the terms. In the PVE mode, a Jedi who has just used his force powers or has a lightsaber armed will not be able to enter any major cities until the flag has disappeared. If already in a city and the Jedi uses force powers and/or lightsaber, Imperial troops or Rebellion forces will roll out enforce to take the abuser out. If this doesn't work a future option would be to simply eject players from the city.
I have played this game since launch. I'd love to play as a Jedi but unfortunately right now this is not an option. I agree that Jedi should be difficult to decrease the amount of Jedi. The only other alternative if the Jedi population becomes to high is to:
A. Require the Jedi to move to a different server with much higher level creatures/higher resistances. I propose that you can turn on/off the Jedi functionality at the login screen. If you wish to load your character up with Jedi powers, you would be transferred to the appropriate server.
B. Worst case scenario would be to get rid of the Jedi profession(although this would be the death of the game). Let's face it, we're all fanboys of this game. It's why we play it. I highly doubt that many folks play this game because of the "game mechanics". We play it because we enjoy interacting in the SWG unniverse and roleplaying. It's the illusion perpetuated in the ads that "you can become a Jedi" that keeps the money flowing into this game. Just the same, it's the false advertising that says you can "fly with Han Solo" that ruins this game.
