Some corporations asking for relief money is ridiculous...

Must be nice to be an oil rich country indeed.

also note the irony in the passage below from the article in question

<<-- Mexico has offered $1 million and is sending 15 truckloads of water, food and medical supplies via Texas. The Mexican navy has offered to send two ships, two helicopters and 15 amphibious vehicles.>>

You know, I have to say that if I was waging like, sea battle on some country and somebody showed up with like, some nice ass three masted sail ships armed with cannons, I'd just have to call them up and be like hell. I like the cut of your jib.

And then like, I couldn't beat the crap out of them because then you'd just look like an ass. That's like some dude riding a horse against a bunch of tanks. It's all like, silhouetted against the sunset and crap and they're like, let's make a movie and a National Geographic cover out of this.

I'd send out a bunch of rednecks in bass boats with .50 cals mounted on em.

Ah, come off it. I only used it as a 'thinking pause' four times.

All big businesses are publicly traded companies who have many share holders (aka owners). How often can you get so much as 100 people to agree on one thing. "Hey lets send some money to help this group of people." Every one agrees. "OK how much should we send?" You get a hundred diffrent sums from a hundred diffrent people (exageration). "Well what about the CEO's?" They are not allowed to deside how the company (aka the share holders) spend their money. "Well what about the president of the company?" Again that person doesn't have the say in how the companies profits are spent. The company pres can give money him or her self but that goes down as a donation from that person and not the company.

Most companies give money. It may not be as much as you want but hey its always easier to spend other peoples money. They are after all just big bad greedy capatialistic companies who care only about profit right. Little news flash alot of companies give to alot of causes. Every one expects this so it isn't considered news when they do, and because we dont hear about it the suspisious masses assume that the greedy big business hasn't given a nickle.

Wow. I've never seen a more wrong example of how publically traded corporations work.

Nice job!

Just hours after the FAA cleared one runway in MSY to accept emergency flights, American was the first carrier --commercial or military -- to land since the storm, bringing relief to some of the thousands of employees and customers devastated by Hurricane Katrina.

Carrying 8,400 pounds of bottled water and non-perishable food on the way in, the flight was unloaded and returned to DFW as a rescue mission. In addition to a number of employees and family members, AA filled the plane with customers who had been stranded at the airport for days, after martial law was declared and flooding cut them off from the rest of the city.

"It took the efforts of many departments working together to pull this off so quickly," said Tom Del Valle, VP U.S./Canada Division, Customer Service. "From SOC, Crew Scheduling and Security to Customer Service, Flight and Flight Service, there was no shortage of volunteers.

"Everyone involved executed their jobs flawlessly. There was an incredible focus and determination to make this happen for our customers and fellow employees," continued Del Valle. "In just seven hours time, we located an aircraft, crew, and supplies -- airlifted them to New Orleans -- and returned with a full planeload of grateful people."
And you say I'm drinking kool-aid. You critisize your company for not doing enough then you retract when you find that they are helping with the Hurrican reliefe efforts. I salute you for acknowledging it yet when I point out that people assume the worse of the big bad boggy man you claim I'm drinkin kool-aid. You jump to one conclusion based off of your assuptions and I drink kool-aid?

yup, I criticized my company on a subject completely different from Katrina mess...

and, I didn't expect them to help out at all with the Katrina mess, due to the situation the airlines are in...so that's why I posted that they were the first ones in...I was surprised...the pilots on the AA side of AMR (I'm AE) aren't nicknamed "skynAAzi's" for no reason...

as far as assumptions, I made the kool-aid comment (half jokingly I might add) based on your post I quoted...and it still fits...your post was basically a "suck up post to corporate execs" and that's what people do who drink kool-aid...

but hey, whatever man...maybe you work in a big fortune 500 company of 120,000 employees, or maybe you bag groceries...maybe you kiss manager ass or maybe you piss in their coffee pot...I don't know and I don't care...
