I don't speak it to feel secure. I speak it because it is the language of my people. but being an imperial you wouldn't understand such things.

Jinx speaks basic most always because it's understood by most. I sometimes try to role play understanding but not speaking as well in another language, like Ryl. If I switch to Ryl, I try to speak simply. But all too often I don't even notice the "says in Rodese" narrative, which I think it unfortunate. Though it was frustrating, wasn't it neat when you couldn't understand any of the alien tongues?

But growing up in the Outer Rim territories and jumping crew to crew, I do feel comfortable having her understand all these "common" languages she's grown up with.

I've wondered what Zabrak sounds like...

I speak basic. It IS the galactic standar. Howeve, I know all the languages save for lukku. It makes dealing with the other races so much easier when I can understand what they're saying.

I speak Ryl.

I speak basic. It's only proper.

I don't know any of the lesser languages, so feel free to speak them around me if you're trying to keep something a secret. Of course, it won't stay a secret if my dear Field Commander is present.

BTW, you don't know how unlearning the languages helped my immersion.

How do you unlearn a language?

It's something like /surrenderskill_language_dosh_comprehension. I don't remember it exactly. I'm amazed with all of the things you can actually do in this game with commands.

One of the cool things I found out about Zabrak is that if you know the context that it's being spoken in, you can understand it.

I know Zabrak works this way, and I suspect the other languages do as well, but it evidently takes what's being said and runs a sort of filter on it, jumbling things up a bit, but predictably if you can recognize the algorithm.

Rodese (or whatever it's called) I'm close to figuring out (it would help if I had a rosetta stone type translation), but Zabrak was a riot to learn I could understand just by reading it, and knowing the context of the situation.

That's not it, just to let you know. I tried it. =)

Ok, that may not be the exact command, but it's very close to that.

I've found that I can understand Zabrak a little, because they don't distort it that much. I like the way they distort Ryl and Shyirwook (no clue how to spell it) because I have no chance of knowing what it says.

Y'know, I'd really love it if you could install a mod in protocol droids to have them "translate" what was being said. For instance, you could target a person, click "translate" and just have the droid repeat what the person said in Basic. It shouldn't be that hard to do, but they won't do it because that would be too good of a thing for me.
