Open Letter to the Community from SOE

Every one is abanding a sinking ship and he's saying the ship is fine as he stands in waist deep water. If they were listening they wouldn't put out a bugged product. If they were listening they'd know this reponse was comming. Remeber how many people hated the CU and that was a minnor change to the game compared to this. SOE doesn't listen to the gamers they have they listen to the gamers they dont have and they hope that what ever change they make will draw then to SWG and they've taken the rest of us for granted banking on people like Batty and people who will play any game as long as it's SW. They've screwed us over way too many times and the only way you'll ever see me in the game again is if they change it back to at least CU or if they make it a free subscription because SOE will not have another single dime from me as long as they treat the player base like an abused wife.

He thinks coming out in the trenches will save some subscribers for a short time. But he may or may not see that his options are: Rollback, or watch the game die.

Rollback is the most commonly posted suggestion on those threads... not lag. classic servers are neccessary to survival at this point.

I'd wager since TH is doing his PR job now... hopefully that means Smed is doing his and lighting some fires to get some things fixed. Take it as a good sign he's not posting... for now.

My interest in dealing with the bugs and how disappointed I am with the feel of the game finally made me say "well I'm going to take a break from SWG for a while." Maybe as long as last time with baby, maybe not. Based mostly on the feedback from this community then about fixes being put in and whether things were getting good again, I could decide to come back. So I went to cancel my subscription and found out I'd hosed myself.

Turns out my decision to pay by the quarter was an SOE exploit. They're not refunding a thing -- it's: thank you for your $42, you will expire on Feb 26th. Wow--thanks--that's clearly what I wanted. Pay in advance for them to fix all their bugs they've put on us while I'm too disappointed to even play it. Yippee. Hell, by the time March rolls around they'll either have delivered on fixes to make the game better or be announcing their plans to drop down to two servers before shutting down.

Do you think there's a snowball's chance in hell of making SOE do what any other service would do? Make me last til Dec 26th since I'm in that month's rotation -- fine -- and keep the full $14.95 for it -- but end my service at that point and return my $27 to me?

I went from sad at thinking of taking a leave of absence to furious that this is what cancellation meant.

That's why I too still only pay by the month. Once you lock that in... your saying... I agree to any changes you do to the game from this point till the end of my subscription and I have read and agree to all of your terms.

It's sucky... but that's the #1 reason I do monthly even if I love something about a game.

It's a step in the right direction... now if they'd put in some form of locking... it'd be even better. As it stands now... it's not just our friends getting in the way making it hard... it's also the fact that anything that walks in front of the screen on you (even if momentarily behind you to take up screen space); It'll try and target that as well. *chuckles* I sound about as bad as the 'fix' description does... but I'm sure some of you know what I mean.
