So either he has never played the game, or hasn't played it for a long time lol
Jedi were still the far minority. Its always been my opinion that there visibility was higher because other players were quitting.

yup when others quit jedi stayed because they had worked so hard for there toons. If theyd given more incentives to the other classes so theyd feel theyd accomplished something those ppl would have stayed to and they would never have had to think they needed nge to bring in new players cause the player base would have stayed huge.
My friends list back in the day of huntng said differently, And I dont think I ever had every jedi added. There were hundreds of jedi on my list, far from "a precious few".
And as far as giving more incentives to other classes go to stop the NGE from happening, I think the reason the NGE happened cuz there was so many classes they couldn't add anything without through the balance way out of whack.
I think the new system will be better in the long run, providing they follow thru on class diversity that they claim is in the works.
Will it stop people from leaving or make people come back, doubt it, too much new stuff, if they get hooked on something else, SWG will have to be real impressive before they switch back.
Well I guess that is the problem right? Cuz I like the system right now Others dont, fair enough. Only time will tell now if people will stay away and if people keep leaving, from other MMO's I have tried I haven't found one to draw me away yet.... although if someone pulled of a Robotech one...I would be gone
Just by watching the server loads and knowing who plays where a little. I think it is our over-seas friends giving SWG the most hope right now. The Euro Servers/ Gorath/ Ahazi/ Bria have all been on Medium the past week for me during their prime time hours. With even 2 Heavy servers.
I don't like getting into this at this point because I'd hoped our NGE ranting was over. Your either watching and hoping for some semblance of the game to come back or for NGE to reach a tolerable playability for you... or your just bashing on it still basically. We all know what to blame... Poor PR from SOE/LA with the playerbase. From a company stand point though... they've already said the game is NOT rolling back.
They really did goof in the 'short run' with the NGE on a lot of levels. PR for release was bad. Polishing before release did not happen... again. And I'm wagering their testing was skeptical at best.
However, despite it's faults, I'm inclined to believe that the game is still going to live out it's original 5 year shelf-life before any plug gets pulled. Now, I know DD is laughing at the 'Medium' server load comment on me. But, that tells me there are enough people still playing/trying this out to give it the potential for turning around in 6 months as the 'rumors' are suggesting.
I'm playtesting again... I accepted that when it went Live and, believe it or not, with all of my possitive puffing around here... I was just as upset about the changes and how things were handled as everyone else. I'm just willing to stick with it till they either get it right... or there is a gap with no Star Wars MMO in existance. I still lean toward calling it a hybrid FPS since I'm not 'locked' in a first person mode if I don't want to be. It's Diablo-esque to me. Now... if they'd made it FPS and locked us in first person mode... or if they ever push THAT into live... I think you'll even see me bail.
My thoughts... your going to see a lot more negative bashing by the media and old Vets of SWG so that it may well NOT have that chance to get turned around now. But it does have the potential to... and without server rollbacks. We wanted change... we left for WoW (general statement... I know others went elsewhere)... They looked at it and started working on change while experimenting with a few things when we came back for CU... NGE was released with the 'Change' we did ask for but not in the package we overall wanted...
If I were Yoda I think I'd just say this about SWG, "Always in motion the future is."
Yup, I totally agree with you, Sai'nu. the biggest thing that upset me was how the changes were implemented. And how they were pushed out too early. But all in all, I am happy with the progress they have made and the direction they are going. If they stay on course I think things will be ok.
And like I said, I am not above trying new games, but even with the changes to SWG, I have yet to try anything that I enjoy as much as SWG.
This is not a post where I am trying to pick a fight with others that dont like the game anymore, and feel totally ripped off, just in my opinion they game is not that bad, and only getting better.
Back to the topic of the post, my main point is, people writing articles not having played the game like us, mean nothing to me. let me interview with 3 or 4 people who dont like WoW anymore for some reason and I will give you the same article based on WoW.
If you're directing the "negative posting" remarks towards me, I wasn't being negative in the slightest, just trying to be truthful actually.
server loads may be medium on a few servers, but of those people playing, how many are playing on accounts that are already cancelled, that still have time left on them?
People may be playing but accounts are still cancelling, and not many are activating. Anytime I go to a store, I check to see the stock of SWG, and I haven't seen one move off the shelf yet.
All SOE cares about is money. That's the bottom line. If it aint payin, it won't be playin.
Even if they kept 50% of the subscriber base of what they had (which I'd wager is much much higher than who are still paying) it wouldn't be enough to keep the game up and running.
That's why I said they better do something in the "short run"
One thing is clear to me: the folks here on the SOE cheerleading squad are at least (if not more) annoying than any ranters or complainers.
"Look at me, I am so happy!!! Oh boohoo so sorry to hear about you, now hit cancel and go away."
Right now, honestly with the last couple hotfixes and pub26, I am having a blast again. But that doesn't mean I am going to sit here and lecture people on what is good about the game and toss out smileys while other people feel like they got their hearts ripped out.
What is bad has just as much validity as the good. If my circumstances were different, I would have no reason to play right now. As luck would have it, I did nearly none of the RoTW or ToOW quests and so I can progress and enjoy the existing content with new found incentive.
For other players, namely players whose professional identity were robbed from them (I was a very proud TKA before Jedi) and those who did all the quests in the game - they are screwed. As someone who currently has learned to enjoy the NGE, my respect will go out to the players less fortunate than me. The players that dropped hundreds of millions in gear and spent real time building their characters.
My respect will be paid to those people by simply not relishing in their losses or walking around cheerfully speaking of the NGE. That is simply disrespectful to the countless people that helped to build this place. Disrespectful to the people who don't feel they can return because they can't find their niche anymore. Disrespectful to those who simply won't play because all of their friends are gone.
That is all I have to say about the happy people here right now. Its premature and seems no different than planning a night on the town while at a funeral service. I miss those that have left and will miss those that are leaving. You won't see me singing any praises for this system for a long time. Regardless of how I feel, it is a matter of respect.

I am sorry I am not allowed to show that I am ok with the current game and continue to play, I didn't realize that I couldn't express that here. I dont think I every rubbed it in anyways face that I am happy with the game. But if thats the way you took it, so sorry.

I have not seen an entire forum dedicated to the cheerleading squad as opposed to the ranters or complainers.
Fine, expect no more posts about anything I find out. Don't ask me any questions or ask for help. This cheerleading squad is closing shop.
I just reopened my WoW account. Shall I make a comparrison to some of the complaints I've heard about the NGE?
Upon first loading in the game...
I was unfamiliar with the controls. I couldn't figure out how to change the camera angle and I was stuck in a behind the character view. I could not just type in chat, I had to hit enter first. Obviously, this game sucks.
When attacking, sometimes my specials wouldn't work. Obviously, this game sucks.
When I logged in, all the talents I had learned previously were gone. I had to reallocate all my points. Obviously, this game sucks.
...
None of it is accurate once a little effort is made to understand the game and the same holds true for SWG yet post after post this is exactly what I had to read. But running from the nOOb lands to the city, I couldn't help but wish that I could run faster or at least use a mount and not have to wait until I was 40th level. Just like I could do in SWG.
Wonder when WoW will let you have your own multiplayer ships and let you stage battles at sea?
But what does it matter and what do I know? The NGE sucks and everyone just wants to teach big, bad 'ol SOE a lesson. You can pat yourselves on the back when the servers are shut down.
