Cool. Seems small but it connects people to their ships (incidentally connecting them to JTL) in a major way.Zannon wrote:OK, since I hinted at it, but never posted (sorry been busy with other things), here is the information I got about JtL at GenCon after talking to two LA/Sony people for about an hour and a half total between Saturday and Sunday...
1. All ships will be namable by their owners.
My favorite TV detective Columbo would be proud of you Zannon.Zannon wrote: 2. I was told that there are 18 flyable ships in JtL 3 times by two different people, when I told them I had heard there were only 15, they quickly corrected themselves and said 15...I'd bet on there being 18 at launch, no way that was an honest mistake.

Grinning because maybe he knew that Duros would be the other race? Please be trueZannon wrote: 3. When I asked about the 2nd playable race and they wouldn't tell me anything. I brought up the fact that in beta there was a poll that asked what the two next playable races should be and that the two winners were Ithorian and Chiss. The LA rep just looked at me with a big grin and didn't say anything.
Slick!Zannon wrote: 4. The technology was still being worked on, but they intend to let guilds create a small unit marking that will appear on all their ships.
Sounds good.Zannon wrote:5. Flying in a rebel or Imperial specific ship WILL cause you to go overt in space. When you land, you will be defaulted to covert.
6 sounds nice for starters.Zannon wrote:6. There will be 6 types of space missions...but that's all they'd say.
YaY! Good to hear. Hope it's a decent one.Zannon wrote: 7. There are at least 2 craftable, multi-crewable freighters in the game, the YT1300 and another freighter...the Lady Luck makes it three.
I'll have to give you the "Jor-El 'I Told You So Award'" for that bit of lobbying Zannon. For those same reasons I bet we'll see the Lamda Shuttle introduced somewhen. Then we can feel justified, for what it's worth. "Lack of combat ability"? Then give some other cool ability to make up for it. Ehh, nevermind since I'm extra biased toward that ship. We'll see it later hopefully.Zannon wrote:8. The Imperial Shuttle will not be flyable or craftable...and it's not on the drawing boards. - This issue I beat until it it was unrecognizable with them. They told me that the ship was not being developed because of it's lack of combat ability. I told them that their development team is filled with too many like-minded people that play the game for combat. I told them that they are missing a market of RPers because of this. I explained to them that there is a portion of the population that would fly the shuttle just to have his/her friends escort it with TIEs where ever they went. WE talked a lot about RPing in SWG and I made a lot of suggestions...I also showed them our forums here. They were attentive but probably had me set to ignore about 2 mins into our conversation.
I saw the new screenshots that the LA site put out. The exploding effect of the Corvette looks really nice. Also #41 of 44, the engine glow of a YT-1300 fleeing TIE's is an inspiration.Zannon wrote:9. I flew an A-Wing, a Tie Interceptor, and a Y-Wing. The controls were very much like XvT or XWA. The only problem I had was that the throttle was not mapped to the slider on the joystick they had set up and I had a really hard time finding it on the keyboard (control O appeared to be disabled). Visually, the game was BEAUTIFUL, but it was running on the best GEForce card they make which is not available for sale yet. I shot up some Hutt fighters and they looked really cool.
Zannon wrote:10. I almost forgot this one...they hinted several times that not all neutral craftable ships will be Hutt ships.
Hope they are some goodies!
If one option is the helmet of B-Wing pilots, Keer might keep just enough Rebel faction to sport it. It's absolutely the coolest looking helmet of the series.Zannon wrote:11. There will be new clothing and items that JtL will introduce into the game, but you will only be able to make them as a crafter if you buy JtL...so flightsuits and Ithorian clothes will have to come from tailors with JtL.
And as far as reverse engineering, I like that idea too. Lends a treasure hunting feel to space activities.
