/whine Why do I have to be Mr. Pink? Why can't I be Mr. Black?

Gonna be hard for me to pretend I'm in hiding... I guess going overt is the only way to give me a realistic feel though.

I'll try this whole movie based approach...
I still think its hard. I mean... Warrbacca and Toront had an epic lightsaber duel... Really, if you get down to it, this is not Cannon... So should I accept what I saw? Or should I disregard it...

Trouble is... once you decide where to put what, into which category, cannon or non-cannon... The line gets fuzzy very frequently.

I get to be Mr. White. Harvey Keitel is a badass. Or I could deal with being Mr. Blond; a sociopath is always in demand.

I tried that once, it don't work. You get four guys fighting over who's gonna be Mr. Black. Since nobody knows anybody else, nobody wants to back down. So forget it, I pick. Be thankful you're not Mr. Yellow.

I know what you mean. There is A LOT I need to "filter out" in order to maintain a good sense of immersion that is consistent with the movies and commonly accepted "cannon". Basically I filter out many of the non-roleplayers, and this includes the majority of jedi.

If the epic lightsaber duel happened in public, well.. I have continuity issues with that. Jedi should be in hiding according to the movies.

The force and the Jedi code are something sacred. Watch how someone like Dariis RP's his teras-kasi ways. I feel a good RP'ing Jedi should treat their ways with as much seriousness and devoutness.

At the same time I understand the need to have fun. RP'ing a true Jedi in this time frame would not be all that much fun. I mean, you work your butt off to get yourself a glow-stick.. who can blame you for wanting to use it?

The crux of the problem is that, in this game, the player needs to be a combat junkie (endless grinding) to become a Jedi. Yet, a jedi is not supposed to be a combat junkie. They are supposed to be more subdued, thoughtful, attuned with the force.

Continuity was not considered at all when it came to designing Jedi. If it were, they'd be giving Jedi to roleplayers and not powergamers.

Last shot ladies and gentlemen...and then, I lock it.

Please...this thread is about security at the Roba. Not continuity, not jedi powergamers, not about immersion in the game, or Resevoir Dogs (kick ass movie though it may be).

So, in simple English

Discussion in this thread about security at Roba = good
Discussion in this thread about Anything Else = bad

Capeche?

If a legitimate conversation spawns from another, can we have a moderator split the topic to a new thread?

Sure, I could split it...if in fact there was only one other topic going on. This thread is all over the place.

The problem is you can't split topics that are scattered in a thread. If you do you take all the following posts from the first split reply with it. There's no way to just take the posts related to one subject and extract them.

No one wants to stop a legit conversation here, just don't want to drown out the topic. Even I'm guilty of that. Just start a new thread, no harm no foul.

And listen to wookiee, he is wise. :)

Oh.. I thought you could select the specific replies you wanted split out. I could swear I've done this a few times in the past. I could be wrong *shrug*.

The doorman routine was a wonderful success, at least in our eyes. The required RP at the door seems to be a shot in the arm that people need to just get into character.

Expect this to be a regular occurance. We began adding entire RP guilds to the entry list just because the list began to get full. While the door might now be red to you, we still ask that you still check in.

As for the debate (I believe we are strong enough to support two topics in here, besides the doorman issue is fairly moot now), I realize that my brashness with my lightsaber is in no way cannon. I personally look at SWG as an alternate take on the story told in the movies. Some things are slightly different, and just need to be accepted.

As for my behaviour and it's relation to the Jedi code, I am one of the Emperor's Hands, a force-adept that can handle some of the Emperor's more difficult tasks. I am not a fully trained Jedi and no threat to the Emperor or Vader, just an operative that is skilled enough to outlast many opponents that I may find myself against.

After thinking and racking my brain, that was the best I could do to create a story that would allow me to be out in public and would fit my "playstyle" with my love of RP. I realize to some "cannon" is ultimate and consider me blasphemous, but it's just a game, and the Jedi are in the game.

As for the overt comments, I came overt to the Roba and it attracted a non-rp crowd. I would love to come overt to every roba (and if the FRS ever comes back, I might have to), and I feel that perhaps with a doorman, this might be more workable. I would just hate to see this lead to Jedi Wars on Friday nights or actions like those of xXx in Lost City this week.

Just before the final battle of the Replicant war, each side ran a duel macro. Maybe we can create a duel list on this site?

When thing start to get ugly, everyone can just run the duel macro
