Tracking People Via Findfriend during the Immersion wars

Some different sources suggest things like a bioscanner (probably technology used in bounty hunting), which is not a portable unit, would lend to the idea that because it's so complex to do such a thing.... a bounty hunter probably does have their work cut out for them if they lose their quarry in chase. Hense the need to acquire a new bio-signature. The question would be what would be a fair way to use it?

2 days and you have to have some contact with the player to get a new signature?

A hard rule is unnecessary. Let the players work it out and agree on it ahead of time. "Ok, you have tonight and tomorrow to catch be before the signature degrades".

Ok then, why couldn't he use his magic tricks to find Anakin when he went to Mustafar? He knew he was looking for Anakin AND given their bond would have been able to sense his presence within a certain range, but noo he had to use his intuition and let the wench lead him.

Yes but he was not as powerful as the Emperor with the Force so Yoda said. So tracking over a span of planets may have been outside Obi-Wan's range, which is why I said a one planet radius and being familiar with the person if non-Jedi would be required.

Fits right in with Cannon, Luke knew Vader was on the Super Star Destroyer and knew when Vader landed on Endor. I don't think we're gonig for God Mode here or anything.

Fair enough.

I just wish they'd add in more little stuff. Like when the Imperials used to stop me for a scan and then all of a sudden my toon would emote something like "You don't need to scan me." and then the Npc would reply with "This one doesn't need to be scanned, move along." Something like that anyway. It was a little thing, but I thought it was great the first time I saw it.

Haven't seen it happen in a long time now and I've been stopped plenty.

There's so many little things like that - even some Jedi specific emotes would be cool and wouldn't affect anyone else directly. People would still gripe tho that Jedi were getting something lol. There's definitely room for lots of RP enhancing features and you'd think with the people they lose they would want to add anything that might keep people around.

I believe Yala has the best method for this and plan on training all the Jedi in -ONE- to use the same method for consistency.

And that is to use it in the form of a question allowing the probee to determine it's effect such as.

/tell Ekade <probes your mind searching for the truth>

This would allow you to tell me what if anything is found

/tell Hashum <You sense that she is indeed telling you the truth>
/tell Hashum <You are unable to gain a sense of her true motivation>

Again I think this serves both parties well and allows for more options in RP. And I think by taking a road that doesn't imply you're using God Mode the probee is more willing to work with you and it just works much better.

A one-planet range is plausible based on canon. However, lets's be careful not to make any I-WIN buttons.

There are hundreds of planets in SW, and only about 10 in our game. So we could just have a jedi hop to every planet to find anyone at anytime. That is too god-mode for my tastes.

Just use good judgement.

That sounds like a good system. I always wondered how it could be implemented without making the other person feel like they had no options.

I'm confused. If you can read the person's mind you pretty much are in contact with them (can see them or they are really close) why are you using findfriend at this point?
