Ok, here's my insight on this:
We're trying to run a weekly themed event that everyone has an interest in but there seems to be a lack of direction with it is the problem I'm seeing put out here. Well, your going to get that if it is a weekly thing where your trying to keep up a theme but don't have a 'plot' for the night of the event.
So, just as a rule of thumb, I'd say rethink it like this:
1) Weekly events should be more relaxed. Come as you are and just let the RP happen naturally.
2) Bump things like Scum and Villiany up to a once a month or twice a month theme. But plan about a month ahead before 'starting it up' again. But we should go for now simply because it does get us all together.
As for the actual plot... let's all step back for a minute and think about what we'd like to see happen at an event called Scum and Villiany and post some ideas. To me, this is a chance for us to all get together and discuss our ideas for plots in character in game (I know we can do this at the roba too). But this allows us a seedy place to do it in; Mos Eisley. So, I'm simply thinking S and V is a sort of launching point we can use to drive our other campaigns.
* They'd always see that Twi'lek walk in playing his slitherhorn and quietly leave at the end of the night... but they never knew he was a planted agent of Jabba's sent to see what Lady Valarian and the battling factions were up to.... *
We're all responsible for adding some detail to this ourselves is my point. I think S and V has a purpose and we deffinately don't need to get rid of it.... just build on it.
Dancing in Mos Tera
Yeah.. just as long as we abide by the following (as gathered from the suggestions offered in this thread):Isleh wrote:Ekade, Lets talke to Iago and the other dancers next S&V and see if we can rotate the dancers & musicians in sets. It'll let us mingle and RP and perserve the "feel".Ekade wrote:Well, I will be sure to consult Zannon then on where my character would and would not go.
So.. how do we reduce the band and dancers? Should the event GM tap some of them on the shoulder and tell them to go home? "I'm sorry isleh, we have too many dancers, go do something else, you are ruining that Scum and Villany feel."

Well, it would be nice to see more criminal organizations pop up. I have been reading SW books like a mad man getting through all of the bounty hunter wars and almost done with the hon solo books as well as shadows of the empire has lead me to a few things.
The SW galexie has more criminals than good guys. You will find a few good guys but if you look at both sides you find out they may not be as nice as you think.
The war between the empire and the rebellion for example. If the Empire wins bounty hunters such as myself and everyone elles will be controlled and thus making profit go down fast.
If the Rebellion wins then the high morality takes over in effect thus killing the trade of bounty hunting which would harm more sentients in the long run.
That is why there are so many criminal things going on, to keep the galexy in order. When I see most people RP they act like there is the dark side of the galexie and there is the light when in to bo honost it is the same on both sides because both has the dark and the light thus making things balanced...To a point.
There are still corrupt people on both sides who take from everyone. Polaticans, I have not seen one corrupt nobel in this game. I see people who rp like the knights in shining armor and the people who are the most evil scum in the galexie. The truth is we should have people who are just trying to survive. Jaminos for example is not 100%, he is just doing his job to survive. If it means risking his life to live a little longer then he will take that chance.

Bah... You know what I meant.Ekade wrote:Well, I will be sure to consult Zannon then on where my character would and would not go.
No, I just think that the stage is not the only place for dancing. Maybe come down to the floor and socialize while doing your thing. I am not saying none of this happens but the last few times it seems there is nearly a dozen people on stage and a couple guys on the floor. /shrugEkade wrote:So.. how do we reduce the band and dancers? Cause they're more fun? I dunno.Ekade wrote:Why just the entertainers?
Kirt just wants a lap dance, so I am going to guess he would agree with me, get the dancers off the stage.Ekade wrote:Why not everyone else too? I am failing to see the connection with the mood of the event to the presence of entertainers. If you want, next time we won't even go on stage. (People will be screaming.. last week Kirt walked in during our break and said, "Where the hell are the dancers?!")

We entertainers do recognize the need for us to circulate more. To that effect we started taking breaks and doing just that.

I think entertainers are what makes the world go round. I think we should have a day devoted to the hot chicks in skimpy clothing "Not includeing the guys who play female toons" I appriciate them to a high degree in both rp and OOC. Besides looking nice they are a great source for infromation when they are not being hit on by some 40 year old guys who lives with his mom and has a record on him... *Cough Novall* That is how Jaminos has tracked down many sentients. An entertainer will say almost anything if your pocket is big enough.Ekade wrote:We entertainers do recognize the need for us to circulate more. It's really not fair that you guys get to have 2 pages of discussion and I have to wait 9 hours to come join in.
Ok. I forget who asked about the break idea, but it wasn't mine...I just remembered to try it out. It worked fairly well...maybe instead of breaks, we do shifts of 2 musicians and 2-3 dancers, tops.
I agree with 'kadey about the entertainers at events. I picked my profession because I'm a chatterbox. Events give me pretty female scenery to talk to, as well. ;)
I agree with Isleh's take on the abandoning S&V by the criminals. Anyone that wants S&V to be a dark and scary place needs this mind set: It was ours first, we're coming to take it back!
I expect everyone posting in this thread to be at the next S&V, unless you have a REAL excuse. Ideas are welcome, but if you truly want something changed, come join us.
As for the entertainers having fault...I really can't see ANY of the Kreetles having a reason to work for Valarian. We're RPing characters in a fairly famous band...and Valarian wouldn't bother with paying her help. She'd have entertainers that owed her.
I'm considering being an NPC, next time....or not performing and coming up with something else entirely. I schedule plans around S&V and The Roba, and I prefer not to miss them. If S&V goes back to the way it used to be, I'm not sure if Iago will have a place there. This isn't some lame attempt at a threat, simply an observation.
BTW, if this event becomes scary and dark, there isn't a place for the hugging and happy greetings. I don't hug when I'm leery....maybe huddle, and cower with someone, but no hugging and bubbliness. That'd be ignoring the mood of the event, and simply playing your character as if it were somewhere completely safe...and well lit. Whispers of concern and looks of appreciation at having someone you can trust nearby seem to be more fitting.

Novall, buddy, I don't tell you how to RP a BH, and I don't wanna hear that Iago has a dark side. Y'can't generalize. I know several well RP'ed characters that have no ill will towards others, and have no dark past. Not everyone can come up with a reason for coming, does that mean they should miss out? If desperate, come as an NPC...just go buy some cheap armor or a hooded cloak.Fact is that everyone has a dark side...and if you dont wanna play in that realm or atteast attempt to discover it, then your social Rp nights of fun are gonna be limited to Fridays and non villanous events.

Iago great Idea you had. We should split S&V into the two rooms.
Think about it like this. When ever a criminal element sets up shop in the a town they need a fasade to through off local law enforcment. Under this fasade lies the criminal element. Our fasade will be the freindly dacers and entertainers who greate new commers with a hugg and a smile. Under that fasade in the next room will be the criminal element (wanted criminals can go in this room to try to avoid the law enforment comming across them while they get a drink and may some deals).

Hey, we're just trying to get what you originally thought of going, but it seems like there's more work than hands to help.Jerrel wrote:(side glances at Zannon)Hashum wrote:Zannon's ME project.

The whole reason this thread started was because of the suggestion of an after party. The "after party" didnt cut s&v short, and did not take away from it in any way. When the crowd was dwindling and everyone was leaving it was suggested we all go to the after party to see the newly renovated lucky lekku.
I find it sad that people that no longer come to s&v would belittle the place and the rpers that still attend. True the theme may have gotten away from what it was originally intended, but as its been stated many times, we all play off of eachother.
I do not always go to places with specific things in mind to happen. I like to improv and just go with the flow. I will not be attending s&v til I do figure out a reason why tov would be there. If more rpers decide to do the same, especially the ones that loyally go every other week, the event will die altogeather.
I still like the idea of an after party as a completly seperate event. Everyone that attended had alot of fun. So I do hope that Ehili will still go through with having it. I am more then willing to help her if she does.

Jerrel, I love your take on the 2 room theory. A fascade, he says.... It'd give the separation necessary, and let the 2 groups mingle if they see a need.
Tov, I agree...and when I said that Iago might not show up to S&V, he'll be at the LL, as long as there's at least someone (female) to talk to. lol

Sarcastic playfull stament: Dude pull back on the harshness. I cann't speak for every one but heck since when did that stop me? I don't think every one is saying that the after party is a bad idea nor that we all should dump S&V night. I think all we are debating here is how to bring back the scum and vililliany back to it is all. I'll post what I stated on the...whatever post that discusses this same thing.
Jerrel wrote:To be honest we should have seen it comming along time ago. I mean think about it. For the most part we all play good guy characters, though I think after the slave event Jerrel maybe on a few people list (aucually I'm hoping for it). We are a pretty tight knit group here. I'd like to think we consider ourselves friends here, as far as internet freindships go, and we tend to slide into that familiarity and corgolness to easily. Unfortunatly we cannot change that dynamic, nor should we. We should try to pull players who will play the bad guy as often as we can. We need more gritty players there is all and that is really no one's fault. In my attempts to stregthen Mos Eisley as a RP Zone I've been sending roleplayers random mails about ME and when they choose to talk to me via tells or mail I always drop the S&V nights info to them hoping that they'll come looking to start a good bar brawl. Apparently it hasn't happend yet but hey no sweat.
