Villains

Cijj is on vacation and I don't remember when he gets back, but I would remember to include him on this as he's a clear ambassador between the English speaking and German speaking RPing communities, and ask him if he has someone else who would help him fill such a role.

Also let's not forget maybe smaller communities like the Ruby Cardinals or those who recently joined us...I forget what they're called, but they're stationed on Naboo and stuff.

So after we chilled a bit and got to talking it inevitiably came up..."Why RP man, that shits weird"

I asked "what's weird about playing up my imperial side..i mean...why are you rebel"

"we're the good guys!" was the basic answer.

I went on to explain some things but guess what popped up within minutes

"Every RPer i've ever met was either cybering with some dancer, or tlaking about how he's the decendant of darth maul and is the emperor's secret top assassin"

Think of it this way, for everytime an RPer has generalized every pvper as a 12 year old kid with no life, who only gets joy out of griefing...one of them has called an RPer a 48 year old man, living in mom's basement, touching himself while cybering with men on his female twi'lek toon.

This is why they harrass rp events...they truly think the bulk of RPers are either a) sex perverts or b) just flat out creepy and weird
To be blunt, I don't see the above as justification for trying to ruin someone's RP event.

I see griefing as a sign of boredom and immaturity and is downright pathetic. Griefing is also a desperate cry for attention. All the things a "12 year old kid with no life" would do. Even if they are not a 12 year old kid with no life, they sure act like it.

PVP in MMO's is not all that hard. As such, uber-template uber-loot having bullies with no imagination or creativity get no respect from me. Most of the time, griefing PVP'ers are just emulating some other PVP'er who was clever enough to figure out the most effective template.

A PVP group worthy of respect is one that strives to enhance the game by participating in the conflict, and does so with good sportsmanship. In WoW, the PVP'ers I run with try to kill the enemy faction leaders, defend ours, and wage battles in a very competetive and competent manner. When we win, the leaders emphatically state, "Good job all, we won. Do not talk trash about this on the forums." If one member of that group suggested we go act like asses at an RP event, they'd be gone.. blacklisted.

I am glad you were able to convince a PvP group not to grief events, but the fact that they needed convincing in the first place reflects poorly on them.

RP is not "wierd". Don't tell me that they never played pretend as kids. RP is simply an extension of that. My 5 year old daughter "RP's" all the time. I think it is "wierd" that someone is too lazy to exercise their creativity in an RPG. It must be so boring to just grind and farm loot endlessly. That is "wierd" if you ask me.

I've always said that RP is good for PVP, and PVP is good for RP. The more these groups work together, the better the overall gaming experience is for everyone. I don't think the PvP'ers get that.

Example: In WoW, we Horde killed the Elf racial leader. What followed was a HUGE amount of RP generated on the Alliance side, mourning his loss, and outraged that the horde shed blood in their sacred home. So, a PvP event was able to make the game more interesting for everyone involved. If we who were involved in the PvP aspect of this acted like griefers, this would spoil the whole thing.

In the end it all comes down to maturity. Mature players know they they depend on their allies and enemies to have a good time. All players provide entertainment for eachother. Even when you lose, a good fight is a good fight, and mature players understand that. When immaturity and griefing enter the picture, that takes all the fun and throws it out the window.

Keep in mind, i'm a roleplayer yes...

However i'm trying to show your their thinking...

You say its just something your 5 year old does...

They see it pretty much the same way...a bunch of grown men and women (in many cases) playing pretend and dress up. If you had a 35 year old friend who ate paste, didn't like girls because of cooties, or other such things....you wouldn't find that weird? Just because we did it as children isn't a just reason for it to be the norm as adults...

That being said of course i'm an RPer, i'm not insulting what we do, i'm playing devil's advocate and showing why they think we're so weird.

I'm sorry, i would make fun of the 48 year old man using RP as an excuse to cyber while living in his mom's basement as much as they would.

The point was, they feel justified in wrecking events because in their eyes it is a watered down version of breaking up a NAMBLA meeting sometimes. They feel like they are persecuting the freakshow internet sex offenders and such.

I'm saying work to change that stereotype, and they'll stop....like i said, DMG-I is not gonna be messing with us anytime soon...did i report them? no...did i get anyone banned, no...did I threaten them, did i go "please respect my differences" no...i got on, talked to them, and was like "no, we're not all freaks, RP does not equal cybersex, etc"

For those who paid attention, back when Digi and Erzenzia (powergamers 100%, non roleplay) started hooking up....they were cybering all the time, literally cybering...they'd do it somewhat on the forums too, when people made fun of them they said "its just RP" i went off and tore into them on the forums. Its stuff like that, that has the whole community go "ohhhh...yeah...." and step away slowly when you go "i'm a roleplayer"

Ok...in the next couple of days I'm going to be getting this new forum set up so we can take discussions like this out of the public's eye and so we can argue in peace. I want to invite 2 reps from each guild here and then 2 independents to represent unguilded/new RPers. These are the people I know for sure are going to have access to the new forum so far, please fill in/nominate anyone I've missed or you think needs to be helping in the new forum:

MidCo: Zannon and ??
TTF: Alonzo and Toront
Mercs: Novall and ??
Templ: Ekade and ??
Kreetles: Iago and ??
Ruby Cardinals: ??
I forget the guild name: Cijj and ????
Independents: ???

Help me fill in the blanks and get everyone that I missed represented.

Thanks!!

Have to agree with Ekade here. Not understanding something is no excuse for griefing it. People love to hide behind a cloak of misconception in order to give others a hard time.

If the leader of DMG-I were a diecent leader, he would investigate what his guild is getting into before they get into it as well as learn and instruct members who dont understand RP. I'm not saying he has to be an Rper, but he has to respect the way we play...theres no room for debate on an issue like this.

Trasgo is probably the best place to start with the Ruby Cardinals. I can't even think of any independents right now though.

I believe the leaders of the guilds themselves may be the best for choosing their representatives or methods of choosing representatives within their individual guilds. :) Though, I know that Jabe is unguilded, and I think Oeree would be a good selection as a non-guilded representative if he's willing.

He is with MCI still, but I think we have more guilded than nonguilded represented on this forum, and I believe he could do a good job of viewing things from the unguilded and new RPer's perspective.

We also have no RP city representation on that list. Thats something we need to fix.

An Whar, my own council I'll keep on what MERCS member is chosen to aid me.

Well I think the Guilds tend to cover the cities as well. You've got Alonzo and Toront which I think can speak not only for TTF but also Dohrian. Zannon takes care of MidCo and Noct. You've got MERCS and Rhy'Din I think it is, and Transgo will be able to get someone for Ruby Lake and the Cardinals I believe. Who are we missing?

for some reason that sentence makes my brain hurt...
Yeah, I was just assuming you would want your number one guy with you, number 2(doody) being Jammy... :)

you should keep in mind who might be offended by certain ideas, or criticism.
