As someone who is currently grinding Jedi and in the middle fo the painful transition where my CL is teetering int he 60's I can tell that things are not shaping up as I thought they *might*. I fought a level 59 character in Nocturnus last week and lost big time. Did I mention I am level 66?

It took upwards of 5 minutes for the battle to come to its inevitable conclusion but I fought to the bitter end just because thats what I do. I could go in to all the details why I went down so easily but the one big reason is that I am simply unable to make a good enough lightsaber to PvP or be as powerful as the veteran Jedi. Resource and crystal drops are completely unfavorable for Jedi right now.

If the Jedi have any advantage, even at full potential, it is only due to the fact that we have a lot of good specials over fewer professions.

Its directly connected to Episode III and intended to draw old as well as many new subscribers. The content is not "just for the jedi" ffs. Blame someone else for SOE's ability to hit on marketing and whats popular now. It is not an excuse to flame me, call me a tosser or tell me I'm just another one of those whiney and pesky Jedi. I'm a casual player like you. Not a pvp'er. I lose to pvp'ers, jedi or elites more often than not. I am NO DIFFERENT than you.

thank you
I know Yala *hug*

My stance is no different than than E-bo's really.

And, Look at the effort that went into the CU to balance all the professions so PvP isn't all Riflemen/CMs. Doesn't it seem counter productive to then throw in a single profession that has an advantage over all the other's and duplicates many skills of several professions? How much or how little of an advantage is debateable, the existance of an advantage isn't.

Their time an effort put into the CU to make the game balanced is now null-and-void.

Is it your, or any others player's fault for playing the game presented? No. It's made clear in the "The Theory of Fun" that they are fully aware of the problems created. It is also hinted at that some people are not happy with it ( look at the comment next to the bottle of the self illustration of the author next to the computer ).

Ok...once again reiterating that I have no clue from experience, I have a hard time buying that. Why? Because everyone and their damn brother wants to BE a jedi, don't they? I don't think people pick up SWG and think "Damn...I want to be a rifleman...it totally captures the Star Wars mystique". They want to be jedi. I don't think anyone can deny the fact that a majority of players (if only a simple majority) want to be jedi.
I'm in total agreement with your statement. Unfortunately, this mere fact will be the downfall for this game. On one hand you have the role play community(ours) who believe that Jedi should be rare in this time period and the PVP's who believe Jedi should be the end all profession. From an economic sense, I can understand SOE's need to appeal to a broad, diverse player base. This is just not the case. Most people don't go into the game thinking "I want to be a droid engineer", they want to be a Jedi. The constant nerfs and complaining will continue unless SOE decides WHO they're audience truly is. Are they after the uber gamers who only want to engage in PVP and wield a lightsaber or will they cater to the roleplayers? Will SOE listen to the rants and cries of every profession that wishes to cry nerf or will they develop their own vision? Sure, they may lose some player subscription base, but I'm sure they will gain some back.

I do think there is perhaps one fact that does keep the game in a bit of a rut.... we keep paying for it.

It's the only Star Wars game in town where we can do what we do. So what do you do?

But what I can't understand is, with the complaints, why is it impossible to make one, maybe two, galaxies that can cater to the more serious Star Wars fans who aren't interested in having hundreds of Jedi running around? Don't change your whole marketing scheme to get teenagers to play by giving them the ability to all grind to Jedi -- just make it so in one galaxy or two galaxies there is a cap of like 10 Jedi.

I don't know. Honestly when they allowed anyone with tons of time on their hands the ability to become out of place Jedi, it really upset me. Personally I felt betrayed because all along until the changeover in staff, Jedi was something that was to be possible but extremely rare. I know lots of you enjoy playing Jedi, and this rant isn't against you. If I had the interest and the time to become a Jedi, I'd do it too.

Anyways, just don't see why there couldn't be a galaxy more correctly Star Wars where Jedi isn't just the ultimate profession grind. /rant off

I agree, Sepiv, and it seems like that SOE keeps telling us that Lucas Arts have their hands tied on the matter. Aka... an excuse being development of it... time and money invested in doing it at this point... etc, etc.

*shrugs* We're somewhat stuck with the process of arguing till we're blue in the face about it on the Starwarsgalaxies boards... and waiting to see if they do 'any' of the wanted changes over 'doing their own thing' with it.
