Just wanted to let you guys know I am enjoying your RP posts in "The Planning" thread.

Good stuff, keep it up! :D

Oh.. and a little spoonful of credit should go to Batty as well for starting that arc. :D

Just a spoon full of Batty will make the medicine go down... medicine go down.

I'm very thankful for the one's participating so far and helping this develop into an open-ended arc I hadn't really planned on.

Thanks everyone for the smooth story so far. Credit to Rebecca, Dasumi, Isleh, Weyune, Hojo, and basically everyone here since you've all contributed ideas at least and have given me a little crash corse in what to expect as I slowly find my bearings as a massive online multiplayer game gamemaster. If this first free for all plot doesn't end very tidy; just be gentle with me this being my first try and doing it. ((kind of missing his table top game now))

Leaving it open ended is what makes it appealing. Your players will feel like their actions matter. That is huge for immersion.

Events with a forgone conclusion sometimes leave the players feeling like their actions are irrelevant.

The GM should only write the first page of the story. The players should write the rest. :D The GM should sit back and watch the story flow and feed in information or have the villain do something at the appropriate time. For the most part, the more hands-off you can be, the better. :D

Take notes! I want you to share your learnings when this is done!

Ooh.. I like the posts that continue the story, Batak, Hojo, and Rebecca. Nicely done all! :D

Although we still have a lot of room to develop our own stories and it is a great time in the overall Star Wars lore, this is exactly why the game should be in a different timeline in my opinion. That is my main gripe with SWG.

Sorry to derail the thread a bit, but I found Ekade's line to be very profound in regards to this game. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE this game but that is the one aspect I would have changed.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled thread...

And just to clarify.. I was not referring to the SW timeline in general.. but rather player created events where the end is written at the same time as the beginning. I am not saying this is always a bad thing. I am just suggesting an open ended approach may prove to be more immersive.

For example.. victory over Grieves is not a certainty. Nobody knows what is going to happen. This makes it exciting.

In the last slave event, we all knew we would be rescued. It was still fun, but there was slightly less thrill of the unknown. (and my stupid power went out the night of the finale so I missed ALL the suprises)

I know you didn't mean that, Ekade. When I read that line that was what popped into my mind though. I apologize for getting off topic. I also endorse open ended stories for improv's sake. It is nice to be able to make an impact on the outcome of a story.

Yes the writing is very good. We can't forget Dwilah now, too as her cntributions are great as well! :D I just wish I could motivate my self to post something but I don't know what I could post that has not already been covered.

Weyune always has her own point of view I would think. *grin* I wouldn't mind seeing five posts of the same scene through different player's perspectives. We all see things a little differently. :D

Yes, Dwilah too!

I like how she links this event with past events in her thinking. You can tell she is trying to draw connections based on everything she knows in hopes that there may be some information there that can be of use.

Good stuff! :D

It is a free for all campaign with no difinitive end. As far as I'm concerned; Everyone is involved in some small way now. Wither it be by being a friend to anyone that's ticked Grieve's off now. Or wither by simply wanting to be a part of stirring up or calming down some trouble.

So far I think the idea I was shooting for is working; A few of you have latched on to entertwine your character's paths/pasts and developing a sense of a movie-like saga beginning.

I encourage everyone to hop aboard; bring your ideas into play; and Enjoy the character development. No one is walking away from this one without a little bit of change I don't think. :-D

Hehe.. I will see how I can fit in such a way that is different from what I have done before... and see if I can rope in a few others while doing so. :D
