Cleaning up the Roba
PostedMon May 30, 2005 12:53 am
Ok let's get right to business...i took a short break from the game (mid december till the CURB hit beta) during this time people have told me that they feel the roba has lost its edge. I am going to fix it back to how i remembered it, whether this is what people are talking about I do not know...but...it made it popular in the first place...right?
RULES:
1) TTF has full control of the building. This is for both IC and OOC purposes. We have final...and only say on any decisions related to it. Suggestions can be made of course, but we make the calls. Period.
2) Good rp will be monitored and enforced to the best of our ability...much like real police we can't be everywhere, with that many conversations going on its hard to watch everything and still enjoy it ourselves. If you see someone acting poorly notify one of the trade-sec members or ttf officers there privately and we will monitor the situation.
3) If someone talks excessively ooc (more than a phrase or two) with an ooc marker of some type, for example "((afk))" or "OOC: afk", they will be politely asked to remain in character. If they continue they will be warned, if they continue again they will be removed from the building.
4) Excessive profanity or sexual content will not be tolerated. This is SW, the universe has some very adult themes, this is fine...but let's leave the cyber in the private channels and such. Flirting is fine, my own character is a major flirt...but when it gets beyond PG-13 or LIGHT "R" rating, its going too far. Adult themes can be discussed without making it a porn film. You cna make it very clear you are all over each other without telling me exactly where that lekku is probing.
5) RP in the roba is meant to be freeform...of course people cna have their own plots building that's kinda the point...a place to start plots, a meeting point, etc....try to leave the scene stealing, cantina clearing, evening ending stuff for every once in awhile...an explosive firefight is cool once a month....every week it begins to get old. Be considerate of those who want to do something other than your plot.
6) I will now give an example of a VERY common rp flaw that will not be tolerated. If you go to attack someone....you will /duel them, they will /duel you...if either of you have friends you will ALL /duel each other before fighting begins.....if someone has 4 guards with them, you don't just duel the guy you are after and refuse to duel the guards too...people who do this will be warned, and then banned if ignored. Along these same lines are what ttf have defined as bad rp: using /emote to be king of the world. If someone punches you...and you do /emote catches their arm easily, laughing...that's kinda lame....agreed this works both way....generall send some /tells to each other ahead of time if you are gonna have some /emote interactions of this nature....its easy to annoy or even ruin another persons rp with a simple emote. In general don't do something witha /emote that would assert your dominance of a person...IE using an emote to better them in combat or in agility (/emote does 50 backflips without spilling his drink, for example, is a dumb emote) The bad emotes will follow the bad RP guideline of polite request->warning->ban
7) We encourage the highest level of realism in our rp environments...this means if you do find yourself ina fighting situation please don't back down because you don't feel like pvp...understand when you arrive that its a "real" situation....and if someone for some reason wants to draw their blaster....you couldn't just say "sorry mugger, i don't wish to be mugged today" we understand you don't always feel like pvp but try to respect the realism of the environment. That being said...leads me to 8
8) Trade-sec is the IC protector of the roba, the police force. If someone is fighting someone they will step in....it will take SOME time to accomplish this goal, so we will give a grace period...but i am writing a macro that will in the touch of a button autoduel every trade-sec member....we expect if you enter combat and guards go to attack you, this button be used for everyone's sake...if you have to stop to /duel everyone...you can't focus on fighting so it hampers you...however the guards aren't gonna stand there while you kill someone for 5 minutes...now a shot or 2 incap we could see...so fast it wouldn't leave time for reaction...but in general this will help maintain a level of control in the roba that will stop it from being a seedy place, and back to the protected refined classy place it was.
9) Another ideal i am considering...to reinforce the ultra realism level...is to have EVERYONE who enters the roba...duel everyone else...not sure if the same cna handle this...that way shots can come out of nowhere...and truly be offguard....obviously a /duel request let's you OOC know "ok i need to prep" and people will eat food, spice, etc....i for one would love to be TRULY surprised when Dwilah puts a blaster into my ribs" I am toying with this idea because i'm afraid it will draw a bad crowd (but that would be remedied through banning of non rpers) but also that it might scare off people who truly have zero combat skills (some of the band, crafters, etc)
10) Most people from swgtales have never been in TTF. Somehow our rp groups just never mingled until the roba got going, and then this site. Possibly because we started and stayed on talus...whereas other groups chose tatooine and lok. But the ultimate goal is to create the roba as an immersive, realistic, amazing rp experience for ALL to enjoy. However, if we are going to be responsible for the reputation of the roba, we are applying our guilds rp rules to it....as Jabe will back me up...i am this harsh with my own members and do not tolerate OOC in inappropriate situations....we have survived this long without dropping our RP requirements and will continue to do so.
11) Since i'm IC returning to viceroy soon, i won't be bartending...we would like a REGULAR, TALENTED, bartender....not to toot my own horn as many think i do so often, but i received a ton of /tells when i bartend saying how good of a job i was doing and how it made coming to the bar and getting a drink a fun experience...that is what i want out of a bartender.....i am willing to "train" anyone who can be there...its easy stuff...a lot of macros make it simple...you just need some creativity, some dedication, and the will to do it.
