I have strong feelings about buffs, I say they suck and have ruined the game.for instance what prestige is gained in mastering an elite profession in 2 days because of buffs, from any movies when does it take 25+ attacks to kill a anyone (han vs greedo, any jedi that fall in the battle of geonosia). Now in regaurds to this BH topic, a master BH with some medic (even novice) and a good weapon (lets not forget the damage on lightning cannons) could seriously kill any non elite master porffesions in a few shots un buffed, and unless the other person is equal in combat prowess, the BH will always come out on top.
buffs make ham a non issue, but ham should always be an issue (good ham management is a very hard skill to master). for instance stopping shot, the description of this move says it can incap in ONE hit, well with a good gun it can hit for 500+ in pvp, thats a very good shot, but if we are buffed then it takes like 8+ stopping shots. Also when you wear armor un buffed it makes ham costs very high, but normal attacks dont use ham, so while the other person spams speacials at you and you armor takes the damage, and they use ham. take aim, and use a special for the incap. this is how the game was a long time ago, when there was pvp all over and it was scary to be overt. I say no buffs in this system because a good BH doesnt need them, and a good Mark doesnt either (and if your not good, then you fail your task of get caught by the BH, and that sounds like how it should go)
But food is ok I think, food is a suble advantage and last for a short time. also then their is the choice of food/spice. and what happens if you take a pixie and escape, but the BH treacks you in 10 mins when you are comming down, well then you lose (and a pixie come down would have you in a corner shaking out of control contemplating ending your life).
No Buffs and the stronger characters have their natural advantages.
*I know I came across strongly, but I hate buffs, no one groups because its better solo with buffs, well that stinks if you ask me*

E I'm with you on that we need it to be fun. I'm also with you on that the Hunter needs to think how he's gona take down the mark. I'm also with you on the Hunter not using over kill for a Master Dancer Master Artisan. Perhapse I should ask a poinent question here. Can a Hunter find out what professions his mark is? If so then a BH would never have need to buff when he is goin agaisnt a non combat oriented mark. HOWEVER, if this information is not always available in our system then I as a BH would buff when I dont know what professions my mark is for this reason and this reason only.Ekade wrote:Fett was the most feared hunter in the Galaxy because he was good.. because of his skill. His reputation was earned over time.
As is too often the case, bounty hunters want to say that they are the best without having actually earned the title. They just want to get buffed and set up a bunch of easy-win scenarios to make it seem like they are good.
I would like to see our system be actually challenging for the hunters.. so we can see, through their skill and cunning, who the best bounty hunters are.
Right now the routine is.. Get buffed.. use /findFriend.. walk up and blow away unbuffed opponent... get paid.
I'd like to see some real competition here. Something to get the blood flowing. I want to hunter to have to bring their absolute "A-game". They will have to decide on what food/spice/armor/weapons to use. They will have to actually study their opponent and THINK about how to take them out.
Am I crazy or does this sound like more fun?
Hope for the best PLAN for the worst.
As it stands right now I am a Master BH Rifleman 0-0-0-1 and
Pistolier 0-1-0-1 giving me a +22 melee defence. As of yet when compared to the other combat players not much so if I dont know what the mark is I have to assume he/she might be some uber fighter and I will plan accordingly. It is likly that the mark isn't a uberr fighter and I would have radically swayed the fight in my favor but my character reasons that this is the cost of being prepared for anything.
You all know my feeling on /findfriend and I think that it would be vastly funner if we could fingure out ways for the marks to set up traps on the BH. Maybee the mark has a substantial ammount of credits and hires a small band of mercs to protect himself/herself or has a friend who makes elaberate gagets that can be used to slow down or incapasitate the BH.

Regarding information the Hunters have on the Marks.. Sometimes that will know the Mark's Professions, sometimes they will not. I think this is realistic. It is then up to the Hunter to decide if they feel condifent in going after the Mark.
Buffs just thrrow that whole decision process out of whack. I want to hunter to ask himself something other than "Am I buffed?" when deciding if he should attack someone or not.

I see so much potential once buffs are removed, it's all down to skills and choices. Not just about what, but when too.
Take Vercupti now or later? Hold off so I can take Trimpian or Dustcrepe if they attack me with a flamer?
Ithorian Mist and Thakitillo if they are a TKA to get rid of the knockdown dizzy?
Vegeparsine if a fencer for melee defense?
If I plan to use spice, Smuggler's Delight to reduce the downer?
Synthsteak?
Take it way before the fight so I can stack? What if they delay and the effects end and i have a full stomach during the middle of the fight?
Take it when the fight starts so I have the most time? What if they are stacking? I could delay or just try to hold them off long enough for the effects on them to end and then make my move.
This is all there now but kinda hidden and secondary. We move from checkers to chess.
Okay. A lot of agreeing here. Anyone with an opposing opinion? Feel free to speak up. I don't want any resentment and anyone feeling that they have been browbeaten by the group into doing something they oppose. Address any points that you feel are in error. Please.

I agree that a Hunter shouldn't buff EVERY time he confronts a mark but as it stands now some BH have to buff if they think they might be facing a combat oriented proffesion. Heck when I was a Master BH and a 4-3-3-4 CH all I had was a +2 to Melee Defence so all some one had to do was ingnore my pets and get in mele with me and the fights over. Maybee with the combat revap things will change for the better and all this debate will be irellivant.

They were buffed correct? They were able to ignore your pets because of that.Jerrel wrote:I agree that a Hunter shouldn't buff EVERY time he confronts a mark but as it stands now some BH have to buff if they think they might be facing a combat oriented proffesion. The entire CH profession rendered useless. Why have pets when they go down sooner than the buffed character? If you gave up CH, I bet that was a deciding factor.
*Jabba drops you into the Rancor pit.*
Unbuffed:
*You fight for you life and to escape. This monster appears even larger as it looms over you*
Buffed:
*You look up at Jabba and you are quite put out. As the Rancor knaws on your leg, you look up at him and say "Well, that was rather rude!".*
Jerrel, Take a look at BE Sweesonberry Rolls if you still have pets.

If the mark knew what sweesonberry roll did, they would be afraid, very afraid. Better than Vercupti.
