Post NGE RP Community Situation

I don't see any reason for the people who want to band together to stop themselves from banning together. If the Kreetle and Temple people want to join up--do it! Start a new guild together called <RP> and knock yourselves out, guys.

Just because everyone's not going for it doesn't mean you have to scrap the idea for the people who are going for it. I would steer clear of using TALES as a guild name though. I think it goes against what Tales is as a community (you don't have to be a guild member to participate and haven't had to be from the beginning--we advertise ourselves fine without being a guild).

Some people just want to preserve their guild tags. Some people want to maintain their guild structures even though the rest of their members have gone. There's nothing wrong with that choice the same as there's nothing wrong with wanting to combine. I would say also, don't discount the people who are honorary guild members who have left the game. Some people still love the game they once played and love the characters and people they played and played with. I think their voice counts.

So like I said up thar, go ahead and make a new guild, and call it RP or something. Steer away from a TALES guild name and just don't call people party poopers if they want to hang onto their original tags. :)

I agree. If you have enough willing people to start anew, go for it.

I fail to see what difference it makes if the people making these points are playing or not when many of the points brought to the table were very relevent. Also have to remember that some who aren't playing have just adopted a "wait and see" stance and don't want to pay to play what is essentially a "launch-state" game.
I was pointing out that the people opposed to the idea were ones that are no longer playing, and don't completely grasp the situation. That in no way invalidates the advice given, it is a request for input from people that are still playing SWG.

Ok, here is an opinion: Go with the flow. If combining makes sense, combine. If it doesn't, then don't.

I could easily see two different guilds portraying Twi'lek Goddess worship combining. I can't envision, say, the Kreetles and TTF combining...too many differences in basic play philosophy, not in RP philosophy. Such a combined guild would soon tear itself apart out of mutual boredom, although there would be some crossover among individuals who could enjoy the differing aspects of the original guilds.

The point in combining some guilds would be to avoid players feeling lonely and bored. Differences in play philosophy would not be an issue, because, as was initially posted, each play style would be represented on the council and handle it's own organization.

Essentially, this would be like having a council of guild leaders all under a single tag. Yes, this would work without combining guilds, but it has been presented as an option.

Yes, the need to keep orphans from being lonely, hence bored, is really there. I think that getting them all onto one chat is a first step. Getting them involved in what we do is an equal step. And I think the vette and gigs/raves are equally important.

The RP is the next step...and possibly the most important. Once we get everyone past the embarassment of the ChatDance...which can only be done by retraining synapses, which takes doing/practice/grinding (we've all proved that we can GRIND) spatial chat...then the recombinations in/of guilds will occur. And they will occur, not out of need and loneliness, but out of shared stories and shared senses of humor.

We are the veterans. It is up to us to bring together the orphans and the families. The Rave tonite will be an experiment in doing just that.

And you Blue Glowies out there, the veterans who left the game, keep talking with us and advising us...and join us once in awhile. So, you can't pwn anything except a womp rat? I can't either, but I'm finding fun here...and hope to help others refind their fun.
