Any feelings about pub 10 coming out tuesday?

The Sony official site has a short FAQ about the new Jedi grind.

It is not for the faint of heart.

Not only do you have to have much of the quests in the game done to even get a visit from the old man, the quests from there on out come from the village and certain quests necessary only come when the village is in a certain phase which changes every 3 weeks and there are like 4 phases. And at that point you haven't even done the padawan stuff yet.

The Devs are saying that it will take significantly longer than hologrinding to become a Jedi now. Plus all current Jedi's have to create all new lightsabers for them to work, so on Tuesday I doubt you'll be seeing any lit up.

And the best part, TEF's for Jedi are back. That should silence the griefers a bit.

Well to be honest, I have no desire to be a Jedi at all. I don't know about the rest of you, but it doesn't interest me that much. Besides, I thought you could become a Jedi if you didn't have combat skills, but it seems that is an afterthought.

Regardless, Publish 10 should make some good headlines for Issue 3 of the Times.

well I guess that makes it practically impossible for casual gamers like me then. I only get to play very early in the morning and I'd never be able to get the vette badge myself, and I don't know anything about the warrens and if you needed DWB badge I'd really be in trouble. I had hoped this was going to open it up to long time players that just could do the holo grind like myself. I've been a faithful gamer here since October of last year when I found out about the game and only been able to master two novice professions and about half of two elite professions in that time and only aquired about 10-15 badges. For me to get 60 badges it will take me at this rate 3 years just to get the badges for the old man to visit me.

yeah the POI badges... some of them are screwy.. and you have to actually do stuff to get them...

like at fort tusken you actually have to fight tuskens in the caves and make it all the way through them to get the badge..

Actually Fort Tusken badges you when you're within like 15 yards of the underground lake. You can actually burst run in the back door (the one on the lower level), and run up to the lake, and then run back out and jump on your speeder bike to get it.

Or, you can just follow a bunch of folks who are camping it for combat XP (which is every. single. DAY.) and just head on down to the bottom if all the Tuskens are previously engaged fighting people.

I was actually going for the Yavin IV POIs today in my suit and tie, only to find out that the Woolander Palace and the Blue Leaf Cluster or whatever are filled to the rafters with baddies....so much for getting those badges.

Interesting...sounds like a painful experiment all its own to be sure. Then I heard you had to sacrifice skill points to get "Jedi" skill points. The rate would depend on the skill points you're sacrificing.

I thought it was like 9-1 Medical (i.e. give up 9 skill points in medical skills = 1 Jedi skill point); 30-1 Combat (Woaw!); etc.

That's actually experience points that go through the conversion. the most skill points you'll ever use on your way to unlocking is 24, which is 1 skill point per box (Leaving you with 226 skill points left, if you're on the jedi path). Once you're done with the quests, you give up the rest of your skill points and revoke sex, food, and sleep. Oh, and you must turn to the west 18 times a day and say a quick prayer to George Lucas... In your jedi garb, of course.

Now, the experience points in order to be able to spend your skill point for that box on the other hand.. That's where the conversion comes in.

And you're looking at 30 combat experience for 1 force experience point. I'm sure Danwe'll RP all the way through it, and I'll be eating it up like the good l'il Star Wars nerd I am. Dossk on the other hand.. Well, he's never given the force much thought. He'd rip through it if it paid, though.

Well i have been trying it out but I hate the search and destroy missions all it is, is a wild inaccurate goose chase that takes forever to do. Personaly I like some of it but I think some of it is just plain stupid.

Well TEFs are coming back for the Jedi now, so I would have thought that to be a good thing.

Well so much for my hope is SOE doin SOMETHING right! Is it just me or does it feel like some sadisdic mf is in charge over there. Look every one I dont mean to rant but these people are getin paid to be creative and I keep seeing ideas that are a hundred times better then thiers on the post here and on SWG main site. I can understand goin to some force involved sites and doing some important tasks to get the old mans attention but the fact that one the new systems was so easily leaked and two the fact that it's just a diffrent kind of running around shows me that SOE doesn't really think out side of any kind of box. I love to think up stories and come up with ideas that seem interesting and it infuriates me when ever I see programers made into inept writers and the SOE goes "well you cant blame us it hard for a programer to write." THERE SONY! THEY HAVE THE MONEY TO HIRE REAL WRITERS! Now before I start throwing things I'll go (kicks the chair on his way out).
